So might as well keep my main timeline as 24p and work from there?

Once I bounce out to Resolve and grade I was thinking of finalising the DCP files from Resolve rather than come back.

4K I’m keeping away from as they don’t have the budget for it more than any other reason. Plus the Canon footage is not going to look best in 4K or have you experience in HD up to 4K masters looking ok? It worries me cutting from Red 4K to Canon HD that there will be noticeable resolution changes.

Thanks for the heads up on XML speed changes.

I have the Blade with a Grid Loupe on th Sony F5. I found an EVF support that works well with it, exactly the same as the Tilta EVF support but cheaper by Camtree Hunt. It’s on Ebay. Have a look here for a photo.

I’ve had this the past few days. Had to return to a backed up version to get rid of it. Color picker pops up sometimes when loading the project, sometimes when exiting. There’s something going on between import export or dynamic linking between PP and AE.

Ok, so for instance I have a 2.5D Matte, some CG elements such as flying vehicles, and then I put in some atmospherics, some smoke in Z. You’re saying Nuke will give me better access to those files in unison than AE can?

    Thanks Ted

So I’m getting the impression that as a comp piece/camera tracking software AE is all I need.

    Cheers

Well I’m aware of most of the things AE can do but I’m no expert. We already have a matte painting for the city but it wasn’t done for the job so I’m separating the elements out for z space and then filling in behind the various elements as well to compensate for camera movement. I guess there might be atmospherics in Z as the city is in dusk and some smoke is in there too far rioting but it’s distant so very little movement.

What I’m asking really from a lack of knowledge overall, what can’t I do in AE that I can in Smoke or Nuke . . . or Resolve for that matter. You’ve already mentioned Z depth masking. Anything else?

    Thanks for replying.

  • I had a similiar problem with 3D in AE CS6. Resolved by updating to Lion. In fact it solved a lot of other little bugs as well.

    All the best

Yep, noticed that too. Other people have the same problem in Mac and Windows. Apparently it’s a bug and has been reported to Adobe.
