What happens if you save and open the ai file into photoshop? Or export to pdf? Also, is the artwork Cmyk or rgb and does the JPEG correspond?

I would search for a tutorial first. Basically, its a yellow piece of paper, wrinkled and scanned (or downloaded), then the text can be done manually (with a brush) then scanned OR using a custom brush tool. You can search for the paint, streak and other brushes on google. Pretty simple layout, actually.

Well, couple things. First off, Windows Photo Viewer doesn’t use color profiles to view images; it ignores them (same as web browser). Next, set the working space to something more versatile for photos like Adobe 1998 or a similar wide gamut rgb. Stay away from srgb as this is a sort of narrow gamut rgb used for monitors. What you are seeing looks like what one would see going from a wide to a narrow rgb.

Hey there, sounds like the bg layer may be causing an issue. It’s trying to give you specifics. Could be a bad object. When you saved, what options did you use (if you used default without making changes, what are your defaults?

Awesome! Glad to hear. You can also convert CMYK > Lab > RGB, but you can get weird results (maybe it’s just me). Illustrator just doesn’t have some of the more complex color correction I think because Photoshop does. Either a marketing technique or a practical consideration since many do their final conversions in Photoshop and/or a RIP anyway.

Ok, couple questions first: is your ai file rgb or cmyk? Also, are you saving to JPEG from illustrator?
First off, illustrator has terrible color management for raster graphics. Maybe Adobe does it on purpose to make you use photoshop. Anyhow, import the ai file into illustrator in its native mode (ie: rgb or cmyk). I should mention to also change your photoshop to use adobe rgb and swop 2 for colors before opening anything. If the ai file is rgb, it should come through more or less how it should. If the ai file is cmyk, first convert to the mode to 16 but then convert to rgb, then convert to 8 bit.
If none of that works, can you send the file?

The problem could be a few things, but I’m willing to bet it has to do with your color space in Photoshop and an issue with most web browsers: most web browsers ignore your color profile. So, if you’re prepping for the web, you will need to convert to a narrow gamut rgb like srgb instead of any of the adobe photo or wide gamut rgbs. If you are using 16-bit, you need to convert to 8-bit first. In Photoshop, set your working rgb to srgb and when you save your jpegs, uncheck the box to include a color profile since it will be ignored on the web anyway (remember to check preview so you can see the results before saving). If converting from Cmyk, first convert to 16-bit, then change to rgb, then change to 8-bit and then save. That should help preserve most color.
If you really want to work with color, make sure to have your monitor calibrated, make sure there
Is plenty of light in your computer room (many digital artists like a dark room, but a dark room makes for dark images), and keep an eye on your color profiles.Hope this helps.

Do you see this as soon as you open illustrator? Does it crash the app? What version of ai? PC/Mac? What have you tried already? Usual suspects: trash the prefs, reinstall, delete and reinstall, close all other apps… Etc.

I would manually trace where the lines should be and then work on the overall style. Auto trace is really not gonna get this one for you without some manual work anyway. As a basis, you can start with some of the already-traced lines and move them to the middle.
