1) No tape capture support
2) Discontinuing DVD authoring support
3) No 3rd-Party Hardware Support
4) NO BACKWARD PROJECT COMPATIBILITY???If they want to turn GUI and workflow on its head, I’m all down for learning anew. But don’t just discard capability.
Their new app is obviously more aimed at the high-end homebrew Youtube producer. They are obviously looking to shed their pro user market. So I just think it would be a great time for a company like Sony (who still has a big marketshare in pro video gear) to fill in the coming vaccuum in the software end of things.

Yeah this machine has Windows 7 64-bit…

Cool! Thanks…
Sinedots worked like a charm…
For some reason the existing projects we have that use Unmult don’t seem to correlate the new plug-in to the one that was originally used. That is… Unmult is available for me to add to a layer in a new project, but the old projects still complain that it’s missing. It’s almost like it thinks there are two plug-ins named the same thing and it somehow knows the difference.
Thoughts?

Another thing I should note is that any project plays fine when I use the Print-to-Video function. These dropped frames only occur when playing right off the timeline. If it were an issue with throughput or codec, then I would imagine it would happen in either case?

I did not know this about HQ. I may switch to regular ProRes in the future. But we have been using HQ for almost two years now without a hitch. We have even done one 720p show last year in HQ and it was great. This is a recent development only with this one workstation.
And, as I noted, the problem only kicks in after 5-10 minutes of editing. Once it begins, I could have my play head over a spot on the timeline where there is a single 720×480 TIFF image and it will still conk out. Once I restart FCP the issue goes away for another 10 minutes.

It’s something I’ve NEVER thought to disable willingly, so I am not even sure where to enable it (assuming the issue does lie in a prefs setting). Do you know where that setting is? I could not find it… Thanx!

Of course if the .VOB files are encrypted, you will need to get another piece of software to unencrypt them before you can use them in Streamclip. However these are regarded as greyware and I’m sure I will get blasted if I recommend any of them here… 😛

OK strange… I set the sole audio track to ‘Solo’ and then it became active an audible. When I un-solo’ed it, audio still remained active.
I don’t really know why, but I’m all set…
