There is no such expression.

Do a google search and you’ll find multiple different tutorials teaching you how to do a write on effect – they’re all based on the same principle. You have to create paths/masks for each letter, to reveal it. It’s very time consuming, and not worth doing if there’s a lot of text to write on. If it’s for a title, sure. Do it.

In the shot you’ve provided, it looks like you’re tracking a whole new bottle on, and not just a label?

Can we see the original shot, to best advise you as to how to go about this?

As good ole Dave says, reshooting would be easiest, but we all know that’s not always feasible! 😉 If we can see the original shot, we could tell you if you HAVE to reshoot or not.

Hi Marten,

I think you’d get what you’re looking for under File -> Collect Files.

This will put all the files you’re using, as well as the After Effects project, into a folder you specify. That way you can be sure that all the assets in that folder are what’s used in the project.

When you unplug your speakers, it’s most likely that Windows/OSX changes the sound driver/default audio hardware, which would mess with Premiere’s audio hardware settings.

What you need to do is go to preferences, and check under Audio Hardware that the correct choice is chosen.

I’ve found MPEG Streamclip to be the best all-rounder, as unprofessional as it might look. It handles batches well, it’s fast, and the codec support is incredible. It works on both Windows and Mac, so that’s great too.

Hi George,

I was hoping to skip taking the illustrator file and turning all the dots into separate layers, as that will be quite a few man hours. I was hoping that there would be some solution to do with Auto-Tracing a layer, and then an expression that I apply on the top mask which affects all the masks underneath.

I also had hopes for the Vegas effect – I can get something like a mask out of the Vegas effect, but I’m still stuck without a random transparency wiggle.

I used to use the same function in Final Cut Pro back in the good ole days when everyone wasn’t hating on FCP, but I haven’t tried the Premiere Pro function yet. Should be what you’re looking for.

Be aware that you might find this method slows down your computer a whole lot, as it’s searching through four or more shots simultaneously. You might find the copy/paste method to be faster.
