March 31, 2014 at 9:09 pm in reply to: FCP7, scrolling in reconnect snaps to top and beach ballsNever run into this before, but it is now happening to me all the time on this machine. And it is a clean install of FCP 7 on 10.8.5. And I have trashed the Prefs, but it keeps happening. Does not happen on other machine we have, but every time I try to reconnect media on this machine it snaps to top and after a few seconds starts beach balling and locking up. Really frustrating! And yes for me it seems to only be column view. So weird.
Well we know it will never be fixed, so list view it is.

Yes, it is a weird time to be a pro mac user. Since Premiere Pro CS 5.5 I have looking longingly at a custom built system from Puget Systems and this GTX 690 makes it seem like an even better solution.
I would love to see a speed comparison for CUDA on the GTX 690 vs the Tesla 2070 with Premiere Pro CS6. I know the TESLA still wins in memory so would likely blow the GTX out of the water, but I wonder about 448 CUDA cores to over 3000!
The thing is I still love Mac, and will probably want one for my regular computing even if I end up with a Windows Workstation as my editing and graphics station, which is of course another expense, but unless Mac does something surprising and makes and awesome new workstation with support for new NVIDIA CUDA cards I think a PC is likely in my future.

And now I am having an issue with it crashing After Effects CS5.5 as soon as I try and use it. Literally I put it on a clip and After Effects crashes, though the Red Giant Web site seams to say it should be working fine. For me I get an instant crash. Suck!

I was wrong, at each of the Node errors, the render has a stutter on, so basically Denoiser is not working for me at all in either final cut or After Effects.
My mac is a 2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 24GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 and a ATI Radeon HD 4870 graphics card.

I am having similiar problems in both Final Cut Pro and After Effects CS5 both on Snow Leopard 10.6.6. In After Effects I get strange node failed errors, than I can hit OK, and the render seems to continue, but takes forever and I have to sit and watch it or the renders never finish. In FCP it says that render has failed and does not let me render, showing the clip as red. And it also seems have some errors with the frame it was set on, and getting it to set on the frame I want it to.
I love the results, but it certainly has some problems. I have reported to Magic Bullet my errors and hope to get a reply.

I have zero options able to be checked. Every option is greyed out so I can’t select them. What is going on that I can’t select any options!

I already have an object with it’s 2 colors on different layers, but when I try and import the Illustrator file, I am not allowed to select any of the options. What is going on?

July 9, 2010 at 6:12 pm in reply to: Apple Prores 4:2:2 output is darker than QT Animation?I am finding the same thing with an Animation Codec coming out of After Effects. I see no Gamma Tag.
I am personally having an issue going from AE CS5 on Snow Leopard to AVID MEDIA COMPOSER 4.0 and everything is getting much darker when imported into Media Composer. I am thinking this has something to do with the 2.2 and 1.8 gamma’s, but that does not help me fix it. The same thing happens with Animation Codec, AVID DN HD, AVID 1-1 and Uncompressed 8 and 10 bit! WTF! This is driving me nuts!

Yea, I figure it is the gamma, though most of the posts have been about problems with Final Cut Pro, and not problems with AVID.
And while I have already changed the ProRES tags so they have the gamma, the question then arises do I need to change the other tags, like tags for AVID files or Uncompressed or Animation codec so that it will write the gamma tags into those? And if that is the case is there a post someplace that lists what the tags are so that I can go in and add Gamma tags to all of those?

Just tried rendering into ProRes and I get the Gamma Shift as well, so basically looks like I have to render to Uncompressed for the video to work correctly.
