I am running AE CS5 on Snow Leopard and the Media Composer is on Leopard. The footage is XDCAM, and is exported by avid as a QuickTime same as source. I did the compositing and the footage when re-imported into AVID, the gamma has shifted to be significantly darker than the original footage. I was exporting lossless as Animation Codec.

The footage looks correct when viewed in QuickTime, but is very dark in AVID. I decided to try other codecs and tried Uncompressed 10 bit, AVID DX HD in RGB and YUV, and AVID 1-1 in RGB and in HD and all had the shift, though the YUV seems to have shifted more than the RGB.

Could this have something to do with the Gamma Shift from 1.8 to 2.2 in Snow Leopard? Is anyone else seeing this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yea, I figure it is the gamma, though most of the posts have been about problems with Final Cut Pro, and not problems with AVID.

And while I have already changed the ProRES tags so they have the gamma, the question then arises do I need to change the other tags, like tags for AVID files or Uncompressed or Animation codec so that it will write the gamma tags into those? And if that is the case is there a post someplace that lists what the tags are so that I can go in and add Gamma tags to all of those?
