Magic Bullet Denoiser – Crashing FCP
Posted by Nathan Alber on September 11, 2010 at 2:25 amHey guys,
Just wondering if any of you have downloaded the new Magic Bullet Denoiser filter. So far it looks great, but after applying the filter to a few clips in the timeline, FCP eventually crashes. I’m working with HDV 1080i60 and have replicated the results in separate projects with the same source footage.
Any ideas?

September 11, 2010 at 11:52 pmMichael,
I agree. Its a really great plugin with awesome results. I think my system needs some TLC!
I haven’t tried it with other source footage, but I plan on it when i finish this project and get it to my client. The project is HDV, but my normal workflow involves a transcode to ProRes 422 at the time I capture the raw tape. But i was pressed for hdd space this time.
I’ll try a new project with fresh source footage in both hdv and prores and see what the results are.
On a similar, possibly related note – every time I export QT movies from this project, I get a ‘general error 34’. I baked several clips and received the error each time. I even received the error when i exported reference movies for Compressor.

November 30, 2010 at 6:08 amI’m going through the same issue that’s it’s crashing during render. I have to render a little bit and stop it to save that portion and then render some more.
Magic Bullet company is aware of the problem and is fixing it. I read it somewhere.

February 2, 2011 at 4:49 pmHey Guys,
I know I am jumping on the bandwagon a bit late here – but I just have to say that even though it’s true the results are great, this product really feels like it is definitely still a beta version to me. My main issue with that is, call it a beta version, issue beta test versions, don’t charge people $100 for something that doesn’t work far more often then it works.
I submitted a support case as well just to add to the list of people that aren’t having much luck with the product – not to mention if it stays this way, I want my hundred bucks back…
Liam.

March 6, 2011 at 7:34 pmI am having similiar problems in both Final Cut Pro and After Effects CS5 both on Snow Leopard 10.6.6. In After Effects I get strange node failed errors, than I can hit OK, and the render seems to continue, but takes forever and I have to sit and watch it or the renders never finish. In FCP it says that render has failed and does not let me render, showing the clip as red. And it also seems have some errors with the frame it was set on, and getting it to set on the frame I want it to.
I love the results, but it certainly has some problems. I have reported to Magic Bullet my errors and hope to get a reply.
