You guys are right. Once you use eSATA, that overrides everything else on the drive. I did end up using the FW port on the computer but was concerned because it was a pretty slow conversion. However, once I began editing I was able to see a big boost in efficiency.
Thanks for taking the time to respond to my simple question. I appreciate it.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. It all helps to filter and focus and gives me a bunch to think about.

Grinner,
We’re only at the point for a one sheet or serious pitch. Not quite sure what you mean by “in roads to pitch”. What I’m getting from here and a few other people who have been down this road is I need to sell the stories and the characters.
We’re not quite to the bible point and we’re good with the sizzle. I am simply looking to get feedback on a more detailed pitch, or proposal.
Elevator speech, right?
Thanks for taking the time…

Thanks David. That is what I am working on. The proposals are for two different styles of shows, one in the reality vein and the other a host and location driven travel show.
Ironically, at a family reunion in Minnesota this past summer I discovered that I have a distant relative who camped with Washington before he crossed the Delaware. He was not invited to make the trip across but we hear he did a nice job of helping to clean up their campsite.
Thanks again,
JW

Shane,
My background is in live sports and other sports related programming. This is a new venture and am only looking to arm myself as best as I can. The Cow is full of talented and creative people who have a much broader base of knowledge then I. Just tapping in.

They are, and they can. I am simply looking to get a wide range of thought on this one and determined that this is a good place to seek out a little guidance.
I am presenting them a more detailed proposal then my initial pitch. My goal is to continue to hit the mark with them as we move forward.

Current rate from the IRS is 55 cents a mile. That covers all of your automobile expenses. Anything you decide to charge for your time is between you and the client.
The IRS rate is what you can claim as an expense.

June 15, 2009 at 3:02 am in reply to: Taking suggestions for a visual theme on a plain vanilla jobMark,
I like the idea of the 3 screens behind, almost like the kind of mirror array that you have when you’re in a fancy dressing room in a store. Each of the three frames can include images that tie into the office environment and relate specifically to the person that is sitting. You can use one of the screens to pull full with an appropriate transition to get from bite to bite. I personally am a bit old school in that I am not a fan of a cluttered background and lean towards b-roll, but that is more to my sports background then anything else. My only trap to avoid would be to use the background as an enhancement and not a distraction. I have little experience in corporate but I tend to simpler is better.
Good luck.

Todd,
I have used https://www.vitac.com/ for all of my captioning. They do the bulk of the captioning for ESPN and are pretty reasonable.

Aaron,
Many people have commented on your attitude, rightly or wrongly. I will not. It was your choice to put your thoughts out there and it seems as if you simply want someone to agree with you. Accept the fact that you are getting honest feedback, based on your words, from a lot of people who have found great success in their careers and are taking time out of their days to offer you a little perspective.
It might not be what you want to hear but if you keep an open mind and accept the feedback you will end up better off.
Cheers,
JW
