Hi there. I’ve just brought in some Multi Cam clips and it seems to perform as usual.
I’m guessing you have checked your settings in the Multi Cam Source Sequence.
Also make sure you are in the correct sequence and you haven’t accidentally opened the multi cam source sequence (done but pressing CMD/CTRL and double clicking on the multi cam clip.)The Source Patching Insert buttons there on the left show the channels available for the selected clips in the Project panel. I can’t see what you have selected in your project that may have caused this but either way, from your screen grab it still looks like Premiere is reading a single clip with two video channels/tracks so you should still be able to make your multi cam edit if your in the correct sequence.
Happy to take a deeper look if needed.
Best, John.

Failing Brian’s suggestion to Disable to ‘Axis’ tool, you could always you a ‘Constraint Tag’ to parent one object to another (or to a Null) with the power to select what specific transform properties you want to inherit to the objects. (This can be helpful as it offers more control and helps out when objects are influenced by other factors like Xpresso and MoGraph…)

Hi there, you could simply try having sphere’s from an emitter rising up with a ‘Collision deformer’ on the surface. That will create dome deformations on the surface which then disappear when they go above the surface. If you then want more control on the secondary animation you could add a ‘Jiggle deformer’ so the surface wobbles a little after each bubble breaks through.
Hope that helps;)

Hi Steve, not sure where you’re based but I’m a Maxon trainer based in London’s Soho Editors, where we train classroom courses as well as live online course for hands on training. Let me know if we can be any help.

January 20, 2020 at 9:46 am in reply to: Effects that stick with the layer, not the cameraHi there, you’re quite right, making a PreComp would do it but I’m not sure of the issues this flags up for your workflow. What can be helpful with precomping layers with effects on that you then want to change without continually going into the precomp is to ‘expression link’ the effects settings you want to change into a layer in your main comp (what many people don’t realise is that you can use the expression pick whip to link properties across comps, you just need to make sure you have both comp timelines open so you can pick whip from one to another, otherwise you will need to write the code to direct it to another comp in the same project .)
Anyway, if that doesn’t help because you have other PreComp issues, then another suggestion is to use shape layers (you didn’t specify what kind of 2D layer you need so if it can be done with a shape this would be a solution). Shape layers have their own inbuilt distortion tools to like ‘wiggle paths’ & ‘pucker and bloat’ which may give you the distortions you are after.
Hope something there helps;)

Hello there.
When you create the model in Cinema 4D if you want to Export it and open it (including the texture) into Photoshop you should make sure the object is first converted to a Polygon object in Cinema 4D then Exported as an .obj file. That will contain the polygon information which is understood by Photoshop (and applications that recognise 3D models). Then just open the file in Photoshop and it will bring you into the 3D workspace where you can view the model, light it and render it…Hope that helps!

I agree, ProRes is always great on a Mac but do be aware that as ProRes is a codec is does slightly slow down playback as After Effects has to decode every frame. If you use an uncompressed image sequence like TIF, After Effects will playback faster, if you are stuck for drive space then PNG is also an option.
Regarding the frame rate change, if you wait until export to make the change After Effects will effectively remove every 5th frame making playback of moving shots (particularly noticeable with camera moves) a little jumpy.
It’s always better to handle frame rate conversion in the Comp. If you are just using animated elements then changing the Comp frame rate is quick and simple. If however you are using footage that needs to be converted there are several approaches to that depending on if you have synced sound or not in the footage. IF no synced sound then in the Project Panel, select the footage, right mouse button on it and select Interpret Footage, from here change to the desired frame frame and then make sure the Comp is set to the same frame rate.
Hope that also helps.

This kind of depends where the 3D Logo animation is coming from. If it’s from a full 3D app (like Cinema 4D) then using render passes you will have more control over the rendered looked of the logo.
If you are just wanting to add simple 2D lighting effects (hot spots, drop shadows or even perspective shadows) you can do that to the render but generally when something 3D is rendered out it becomes 2D and therefore loses most of the ability to add 3D effects.Hope that shed’s a little 2D light on your 3D question;)

Hi William, are you aware you can actually add masks to Shape Layers?
When you create a shape layer after effects defaults the Pen and Rectangle tools to create more shapes within the layer but to the right of the main tool bar, when you have the pen or rectangle tool selected you can choose ‘Tool Cretes Shape’ or ‘Tool Creates Masks.’
From what it sounds like, this is all you need to do.
However, if you still need the Shape converted to a Solid for some other reason then select the shape and go:
Layer / Auto-Trace, this will create a Solid layer that uses a Mask to recreate the Shape layers shape.Hope that helps.
