Apply Lighting to Pre-Rendered Animation

November 20, 2019 at 1:54 amGood day. I just started using AE last two months ago. Im still a newbie about this software.
My question is that, is it possible to apply a lighting to a pre rendered 3D Logo animation?
I am planning to resize my video to a different resolution but i do not want to recreate everything from scratch. So I was wondering if I can pre render my 3D logo, add it to another composition with a new resolution, then add the lighting for the shadows.
Thanks in advance.

November 20, 2019 at 11:38 amThis kind of depends where the 3D Logo animation is coming from. If it’s from a full 3D app (like Cinema 4D) then using render passes you will have more control over the rendered looked of the logo.
If you are just wanting to add simple 2D lighting effects (hot spots, drop shadows or even perspective shadows) you can do that to the render but generally when something 3D is rendered out it becomes 2D and therefore loses most of the ability to add 3D effects.Hope that shed’s a little 2D light on your 3D question;)
