I downloaded the trial version of PowerDVD and discovered the slider is actually a playback speed control. The sliders in WinDVD and Sonic Cineplayer actually slide through the content on the disc.
Interestingly, I was just at the Adobe booth at NAB yesterday. There is an “Ask the expert” section. So I mentioned this issue….I kinda got the deer in the headlights look. It seems in time since Encore has been released no one has mentioned or come across this as an issue.
Really??? They recommend I do a “bug” report.

We have finally succeeded in getting long “mastering quality” encodes to work after upgrading to ProCoder 3. The “stitch” feature also came in handy.
Thanks much to those who contributed, appreciate it.

That idea sounds like it would work. However, I was able to get a single file encode and that solved the issue.

Encore is able to do the encoding but ProCoder makes the compression look much better. Plus I’ve had occasional glitches or hits in Encore encodes.

We’ve got a project coming up that will have many smaller files and the issue of sequence chapter surfacing would come into play. I will certainly try the dummy chapter point idea as a solution.

    Thanks.

My first thought is to have the end action of the chapter call up the menu or submenu with the marker cued up to the following chapter. Then you are one click away from starting the next chapter.

If you don’t want to see a menu, my second thought is that you could create a total black submenu with black text, buttons, etc..then have the end action go to that menu. Again you would be one click away from starting the next chapter.

    Anyway…my two thoughts.

We’re using a Sony HVR M15U with Express pro 5.8. I get full machine control using the generic dv device setting.
Strictly SD at this point, going in through MOJO.

We pulled the trigger on the upgrade to Procoder 3 today. Tonight I’ll leave an encode going for the full QT file and see if that changes anything.
    BTW. Thanks

    Since it’s free…I’ll say Thanks!

That will indeed be one of my future tests. But that long process plus transcoding wouldn’t be a long term solution.
We are also looking at their hardware…the Firecoder card.
I wonder if that would accelerate the speed enough to make it worth it.
I have consistently heard that Procoder is one of the better options.

  • Be aware, however, that Mojo does not support SDI or Component.
Xpress Pro runs nicely and with added SCSI drives I believe you can get 1:1, or so I understand. The only digital I/O is firewire.

Interestingly the file that didn’t make it across this time was an imported .wav file (music bed from production music CD). Actually this same file is in the timeline twice…it came across the first time it appeared on timeline but not the second.
However, in previous efforts, some files from digitized Digibeta didn’t make it across. We’ll watch it closely but it doesn’t seem to be related to the kind of audio file as far as we can tell so far.
