Slider Function with Computer Playback
Posted by John Watts on April 8, 2008 at 5:06 pmWhen playing back an authored disc from Encore 1.5 in either Sonic Cineplayer or Win DVD, the slider function does not function. Can’t find any info on the disabling or enabling of this feature in Encore help or manual.
Anyone had this experience? Just an Encore limitation or is there a trick to make the slider work? Thanks

April 8, 2008 at 5:40 pmThe slider in PowerDVD works with Encore 1.5 DVDs. This is not a parameter you have to set in Encore.
Not sure what’s up with the players you mentioned…

April 16, 2008 at 8:19 pmI downloaded the trial version of PowerDVD and discovered the slider is actually a playback speed control. The sliders in WinDVD and Sonic Cineplayer actually slide through the content on the disc.
Interestingly, I was just at the Adobe booth at NAB yesterday. There is an “Ask the expert” section. So I mentioned this issue….I kinda got the deer in the headlights look. It seems in time since Encore has been released no one has mentioned or come across this as an issue.
Really??? They recommend I do a “bug” report.John Watts

April 16, 2008 at 10:10 pmI don’t like to contradict you, but the slider in PowerDVD, at least in the versions I have used, is a seek control, not a speed control. PowerDVD’s speed control is a shuttle wheel.
And all the DVDs produced in all the versions of Encore that I have authored with can be scrubbed in PowerDVD.

April 17, 2008 at 2:01 amThis version I have is PowerDVD 8, but it is a free 30 day trial version, perhaps the slider is only available when you buy. I’ll double check it tomorrow, but the slider on the display was only speed control up to 32x or minus 32x.

April 18, 2008 at 5:29 pmOK, I found the navigational slider for PowerDVD 8. But it does not function with a disc I authored on Encore 1.5.

April 18, 2008 at 6:52 pmThat’s strange…it’s always worked for me. Maybe something else is wrong?

June 12, 2008 at 9:02 amHi there!
I had the same problem and I thought that it was a bug
since there was no sulotion in the net.
Anyway I found a way to solve this problem:Got to the Flowchart tab.
Select the disc icon by clicking once.(It’s the first icon in the flowchart before “first play”).
Go to the properties tab and at the bottom you will see the
“Operations” selection.
Click on the “Set” button and select “All Permitted”.
Now when you playback your DVD disc or folder with any player
the navigational slider will work.
Hope this help you.Chris Gakis
