The best settings are those that match the format that you are shooting. Since you didn’t tell us that and since the Canon Legria HFG40 shoots a multitude of resolutions and frame rates (i.e., AVCHD – 1080: 59.94P / 59.94i / PF29.97 / 23.98P and MP4 – 1080: 59.94P / 29.97P / 23.98P; 720 and 360: 29.97P / 23.98P) we can’t answer that question. But the answer is to match exactly the resolution and frame rate that you are shooting with.

Hi Dan, This is not possible. The Script API doesn’t give you access to the DVD Burning capabilities so it cannot be used to prepare a DVD folder.

Well… if you update your iPhone to 10.3.2 then you will have two out of the three that I mentioned. You are already on iOS 10 so going from 10.2 to 10.3 should be a non-event. In fact, I thought one of the reasons that 10.3 was released was to patch a security vulnerability so you really should keep your iPhone at the latest levels to ensure that it can’t be hacked.

The only personal data is really your contacts. Apple does not store your passwords in the cloud so one thing that I had to do when I restored my iPhone was re-enter all of my passwords in all of my apps including pin numbers for credit cards in Apple Pay. I have two factor authentication on my iCloud account so if someone tries to break in from another device, it will prompt me to allow it from my iPhone (which of course I won’t) so I could give someone my iCloud password and they still can’t login to my account because they need the “second factor” which is a physical device. It makes your iCloud account more secure. All of the data in iCloud is encrypted so that Apple cannot read it even though they own the cloud servers. I understand the fear of keeping personal data in the cloud but Apple is pretty good about security and encryption. If you pay taxes in the US, all of your “really personal” data is on IRS servers that are probably way easier to hack than Apple’s cloud. lol.

Understandable. I keep a 10.6 Snow Leopard partition around so I can use DVD Studio Pro because Apple’s demise of the DVD has been greatly exaggerated. ???? One option is to have a separate partition for older programs so that you can use a modern OS for your life while using an older OS for work.

If you are using Color Curves to set the black and white point then no, it should be before Color Corrector. I use Levels to set my black and white point before Color Corrector and then use Color Curves to tweak the final look which is why I add it after Color Corrector.

The latest iOS is 10.3.2 so you are behind with 10.2.1. The latest iTunes 12.6.1 works great with it.
I back my iPhone 6 up to iCloud and never worry about iTunes versions anymore. The only thing I use iTunes for is backing up my music and photos. Everything else (which is basically just contacts, calendar, and apps) is backed up to iCloud. I just had my iPhone 6 replaced by Apple last week because of a bulging battery and it was restored before I left the Apple Store except for my music and photos which I synced when I got home. Everything went very smoothly.

That’s because constant bit rate is not designed for smaller file sizes. If you want to get smaller files with higher quality, you should use Variable Bitrate (VBR) with the Two Pass option. Try starting with the Internet 1080p template and check [x] Two Pass and see what you get. Then adjust the Average Bitrate only and check the quality at different settings. This will give you better quality at lower bitrates than CBR.

Because XviD places MPEG-4 in an AVI container where it doesn’t belong! That’s the whole problem with DivX and XviD. They came out before there was an MP4 container when AVI was all you had so they stuffed MPEG-4 video into an AVI container and to this day, many programs (including Vegas Pro) cannot handle it properly because MPEG-4 video doesn’t belong in an AVI container (which is why these formats are rarely supported anymore).

Hi François, We are in an unfortunate situation where we can’t sell anything right now since Sony was our exclusive distributor and they closed their Partner Page when they sold Vegas Pro to MAGIX. We are investigating alternate distribution channels but we currently have none. So right now, there is no way to purchase additional GrafPaks. ☹

Your video is most likely not “uncompressed” if it’s in a file with .mpeg extension. It is more than likely compressed as MPEG-2.
Vegas Pro can smart render MPEG-2 for files such as those from HDV and DVD camcorders but your MPEG-2 file might not be one of these. In order to perform smart rendering, the width, height, frame rate, field order, profile, level, and bit rate of the source media, project settings, and rendering template must match. Frames that have effects, compositing, or transitions applied will be rendered.
Try using the MainConcept MPEG2 encoder to see if you can match these parameters. If you can, you will see a black window when rendering that says, “Compression not required”. Unless you can exactly match these values, Vegas Pro will re-render the video.
