This site is selling CS4! No incentive at all for Adobe to give away their flagship product.

Very shabby! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was bootleg software ($895 NewTek for $19.95… come on!). The terms specifically state that you cannot receive software updates and that you cannot register the software. Essentially, you would be paying pirates for cracked software. From the broken English on the site I’d say they are operating out of a country that doesn’t prosecute for software piracy.

If you think it’s legit, call Adobe and ask them about their Photoshop CS4 Extended for $199 that doesn’t need to be activated and see what they say.

You could use the HuffYUV or Lagarith codec and get much smaller file size with the same lossless quality. Sony YUV and CineForm are also good choices for archiving although they are not lossless.

There use to be a compatibility list on the Sony site but I can’t find it now. I don’t think they maintain it anymore. The knowledge base tells you to update your DVD burner firmware for best compatibility but that’s about it. Not much to go on I know. 🙁

Could be… WMV is a final format for delivery and not ideal for editing. What is the source of the original footage? If this is an SD project you should be rendering to DV AVI files. If it’s HD you should be using CineForm. You can edit both of these over formats and over in Vegas with no appreciable loss in quality.

Supported by the DVD Architect code. The error you reported was:

module sfmmx.cpp line 1974
an illegal request was recd
an option was selected in the CDB
that is not supported by the drive.

So DVDA made a request that the drive didn’t support.

That’s right. The newer the drive, the less likely the support. DVDA didn’t support my new Pioneer DVR-110D when it first came out. Then after an update the support came.

The newer the hardware, the less likely the software to support it. Whether it’s the OS or an application or whatever. If you want a dependable system, always buy parts that are proven to work, not just the latest and greatest.
