Is this just during preview on the timeline or does it stutter after you render? Sometimes preview will stutter during transitions because it has to blend both slow-mo fx together in real-time and it can’t keep up the frame rate.

Did you add any FX to the video the first time? You may just have added an effect that Vegas can’t preview in real-time. This is normal.

If your project properties match your media you should not see this ghosting. Here are two things to try:
- Set the project properties with the Match Media Settings button. It’s the folder button in the upper right corner of the Project Properties window (Alt+Enter).
- Check the Disable resample option on the event properties. You shouldn’t have to do this but it should fix the problem.
If the first one doesn’t work, the second one should.

Do you have the latest Quicktime 7.6 installed? You need to have Quicktime 7 installed in order to render to MOV format. Other than that it should work.

Scaling up will always soften the picture. Perhaps FCP compensates for that?
You could always use the Unsharp mask to try and return some detail. NewBlueFX also has a Detail Enhancer plug-in in their Video Essentials pack that works pretty well. I saw this demoed at NAB this year (actually they were demoing Video Essentials II which has not been released yet) and it does a nice job of returning detail to a fuzzy shot.

I don’t know what’s going on but rendering to WMV is a lot more processor intensive than rendering to MPEG2. It could be that your processor is overheating? Do you have enough ventilation? Do you overclock your PC? You could always render to AVI and then download the free Windows Media Encoder to create the WMV file if all else fails.

This is because the plug-in is only 32-bit and you are trying to access from Vegas Pro 8.1 which is 64-bit.

It is registered as a 32-bit plug-in with your 64-bit OS because Vista 64 can also run 32-bit applications. It will only be seen by other 32-bit applications.

I won’t because Version 9 is not the answer… Vegas Pro 8.0 is the answer. You must use the 32-bit version of Vegas Pro 8.0 to access 32-bit plug-ins and the 64-bit version of Vegas Pro 8.1 to work with 64-bit plug-ins. Vegas Pro 8.0 can open 8.1 projects just fine so it should work.

This sounds like the interpolation that you get when your project and media don’t have the same frame rate. Do you have your Vegas project set to HD 1080-50i (1920×1080, 25.000 fps)? (I assume you are shooting PAL 25fps with a CX12E)
