[Benjamin Härmstädt] “Am i the only one try something like this, or is there another way arround to achieve this “effect”?”

No, you are not the only one. What most people use is Motion Tracking. But the Motion Tracker makes a keyframe every frame for you so in the end ou get the same thing. Here is a tutorial on using the motion tracker called BCC Match Move in Vegas Pro:

Vegas Pro doesn’t have a motion tracker so you need top buy a plug-in to do this.

Can you output Motion-JPEG (MJPEG) format in an AVI file? That might playback smoother.

February 4, 2016 at 11:38 pm in reply to: Best Sharpener Tool for FCPX

[Sascha Engel] “The Sharpen Filter, makes the picture more crisp, but more noisy, and NEAT takes the extra noise out and softens the image. The result looks the same than the untreated footage. ;-)”

You might want to take a look at Boris Continuum Complete Image Restoration Unit. It contains a plug-in called Magic Sharp which gives you extremely fine grain control over what gets sharpened and even includes built-in Noise Suppression. For example you could sharpen the fine details but not sharpen the noise background by adjusting the Threshold of the Fine, Small, Medium, and Course Details settings along with the Noise Suppression setting.

Here is a live Boris FX webinar that I did for them where I demonstrate Magic Sharp at 23:00 minutes into the webinar:

    https://www.youtube.com/v/gXugmuTPgTE

This is being demoed on Sony Vegas Pro but the controls work exactly the same in Final Cut Pro X. The webinar is a bit fuzzy because it is being recorded from GotoMeeting and not locally by me (sorry) but you can listen and tell what’s going on.

BCC Image Restoration Unit also includes UpRez which is what I would use to up scale from SD to HD. That also has a simpler Magic Sharp filter built in but if you have already up scaled the video just use the main Magic Sharp plug-in. I’ve even used it to salvage footage that was out of focus. It’s really very good.

  • The answers to both of your questions are “Yes, that is true”… however… I firmly believe that if it ain’t backed up twice… it ain’t backed up!

The problem with what you are doing is that your CD Card backup and Library Import sound like they are on the same hard drive. So if a file gets corrupt, you are covered because there is another one on the drive, but if a drive gets corrupt, you have no backup because they are both on the same corrupt drive! I would keep all of your Camera Card Archives on an external drive as backup and on an internal drive for import.

What I would do is get an external 1TB USB3 drive to use as your Camera Card Archive backups. Then instead of copying the CD cards manually, open FCP X and create a Camera Card Archive. Then when that’s complete, use the Finder to copy it out to your external Camera Card Archive backup drive so now you have two copies. Once you have two copies on two separate drives, then you can re-format the camera card knowing that it is backup up safely twice.

This gives you the added option of not having to import the footage into a library util you are ready to edit. …yes, at that point you will have 3 copies but two of them will still be on the same drive so it’s good to have that external archive copy for safety.

February 4, 2016 at 10:53 pm in reply to: LUT plugin

[Roger Bansemer] “Vegas13 has an V-log plugin and in order to use it you need the LUT’s which are the tables that work with the plugin that tell it what natural and vibrant colors to produce from the dull footage that the V-log footage produces. “

Are you referring to the 3rd party VisionColor LUT Plug-in? To my knowledge Vegas Pro does not come with a LUT plug-in from Sony.

If that’s the one you are referring to, you might want to contact VisionColor support and ask where they recommend you can download LUT’s that are compatible with their plug-in. I see they have the formats listed on their web site but I’ve never used that particular plug-in as I don’t have a camera that shoots in any LOG format. 🙁

February 4, 2016 at 10:11 pm in reply to: Square pixel issue

I’m guessing that you are rendering at a resolution of 1440 x 1080 with a Pixel Aspect Ratio of 1.333. What you want to do is render to a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a Pixel Aspect ratio of 1.000. That will give you square pixels.

Have you tried matching your project settings to your media settings?

For example, dropping 60p media into a 29.976 project will use a lot of CPU cycles trying to conform the frame rates. Likewise recording at a resolution that’s different from your project resolution will require extra processing to resize. I would make sure that your project and media match.

If you want the text to match frame for frame then you’ll need to make a keyframe for every frame. Otherwise you will get smooth interpolation between two keyframes that are further apart in time.

BTW, your English is fine. 😉

Yea I saw the track motion and thought that just animating deform would work too. There are probably several ways to shear text in Vegas Pro.
