    Hey all –

Created a library of videos for a client. Originally shot in 1080i HDV. I encoded the finished products as MPEG-4s as instructed by the client. Everywhere I play them locally, on any player, the player automatically recognizes them as a 16:9 widescreen format video, as well as when uploaded to my Vimeo site – but on their players and on their online resources they’re all recognized as a horizontally squished 4:3. I am assuming it’s a pixels issue? I can’t seem to get Compressor to render a true 16:9 video that works with their system/players. I realize that my camera (the Sony Z5) shoots 1440X1080 which is an anamorphic 16:9 but I’ve never had this issue before. Encoding as a QT file directly out of FCP there’s no issue, so it seems to be a compressor problem…but I do not see any way in Compressor to address square pixels and encode as a full screen 16:9 format. I’m probably missing a detail or two – would appreciate the help. Thank you!

I’m guessing that you are rendering at a resolution of 1440 x 1080 with a Pixel Aspect Ratio of 1.333. What you want to do is render to a resolution of 1920 x 1080 with a Pixel Aspect ratio of 1.000. That will give you square pixels.
