not exactly…however if you set FCP to use a disk (not a specific folder) as a scratch disk, it automatically creates folders for each project and keeps everything separate.

I think the DSR 2000 and 1800 can do it. (and I believe, only with DVCAM not miniDV)

Most DV decks do not support Insert editing, only Assemble.
If you connect to a deck that supports it, like a Beta SP or Digibeta deck, it works fine.

You didn’t specify what Mac and video card you have installed…
Sounds like you have a video card which has one DVI port and one ADC port, or one DVI port and one VGA (analog) port.
The newest Macs come with video cards with 2 DVI ports.If your Apple Cinema displays are the newer ones with the metal bezel and DVI connectors, you will need one ADC to DVI adapter or one VGA to DVI adapter, depending on your card.
Dont get the 99 dollar Apple DVI to ADC adapter, which does the opposite of what you need (connecting older plastic bezel Cinema Displays with ADC connectors to DVI cards)
Belkin makes this adapter, I think there are others…

If you are going in via firewire, it is a straight data transfer. There are no levels to set. If the image appears different, you have something wrong with your cabling, monitoring or some other area of your system.
This does not apply to analog or SDI outputs which ARE adjustable.

Export a batch list of the first set of clips. Edit the reel and clip names in Excel. Import the batch list. Capture.

You cant adjust DV levels like you could with analog. Its a straight file transfer from the tape to the hard drive.
