For those interested, it was announced that the licensing issue with Nexeidia has been solved and Script Sync features will soon return in an upcoming version of Media Composer.

October 28, 2016 at 11:16 am in reply to: Cannot export sped up audio with AAF from Premiere Pro?DAWs (like ProTools) handle audio speed ups in a very different way. If you must include this stuff, export the clip with the effect baked in as a wav or aiff file and replace the original clip in the timeline. You should also be prepared to provide the original clip at normal speed. So your mixer can do it himself. Time stretching in a DAW is usually superior to that in an NLE.

Right click all the clips in the project panel and select “disable master clip effects”

October 28, 2016 at 1:04 am in reply to: Importing video stills from a bad VHS tape frame by frame to recover the video footageBoth AJA and Blackmagic capture devices can capture video to DPX files, instead of Quicktime using their free software. (AJA Control Room and Blackmagic Media Express). Not sure if that helps.

XDCAM files are not normally Quicktime .mov files. They usually are MXF files on the XDCAM disks. Did this files come from an FCP system (which converts them to .mov)?

[Darren Roark] “The D700s do not have ECC from what I understand, and the Adobe situation may have been from them running a hacked version of CUDA to run on AMD chips.
I’ve melted enough things by taking liberties with settings.”
Thats interesting. Can you provide a link where they mentioned using CUDA on AMD? Thats one hack I have never heard of.

October 13, 2016 at 6:47 pm in reply to: Canon C100 footage shot at 23.98, transcoded as 23.98, but looks interlaced. Not sure what caused the issue, but you do not need to use FCP Log and Transfer to do what you want. After you Link (AMA) in Avid, you are free to change the clip names in the bin before you transcode. The file names are embedded in the metadata (and can be made visible in the bin, if you wish), so you do not need to worry about re-linking.

October 13, 2016 at 1:03 am in reply to: Converting 60fps to a smooth 24fps film motion without looking jerky or choppyAnother issue is the iPhone shoots variable frame rate. MC (and any other NLE) won’t know how to deal with that and probably skip frames…so even if you were in a 60p timeline, you might have some issues,
You might be able to fake some motion blur in After Effects, if you have access to that.

October 13, 2016 at 12:59 am in reply to: How to replace regular clips with multycam clips on the sequence???It will go pretty fast. 20 or 30 is nothing. Just make sure you have the source timecode showing next to your record monitor. Jump from edit to edit. Load the clip in the source monitor, type the timecode, use replace edit (with that you don’t even need marks) Hundreds would be bad, 20-30 will go by pretty quick.

You are right. Forgot about Smoke. But the more mainstream ones….Avid, FCP, FCPX, Premiere, nope. Of all of them, I think Premiere seems most likely to gain one, as there seems to be more convergence with After Effects with every major release.
