It would be awesome if there was a motion blur button, but remember Premiere is not After Effects..it’s an NLE. No other NLE has a motion blur button either.

iPhones and other phones record variable frame rate despite what the setting say. It’s not a steady 30fps.

I’ll second this. Its been my experience, importing via File/Import or drag and drop may give you different results than using Media Browser, which is much better at detecting media types. Try the Media Browser and see if the timecode is correct. Also, some media types will not work correctly with spanned clips if you do not use the Media Browser.

For what it’s worth, I also saw this problem occur in Avid, where allowing the system to auto-select the AMA import plugin rather than manually selecting it resulted in the wrong timecode (hundreds of clips…grrrrrr.) This was because the wrong MXF file type was selected (P2 instead of Sony).

Why are you set for HDV? Thats not even full raster HD, never mind 4K.

Try a 4k Preset and see if the results are better (GoPro Cineform or Avid DNXHR might be good choices).

Without the Duck?

Here’s a way that won’t cost you anything to try.

Export XML from FCP, then import that in to DaVinci Resolve Lite. Export from DaVinci Resolve to Avid (via AAF). Resolve even makes Avid media.

Will it work? I’ve made it work on short simple sequences, not an entire film. Won’t cost you a cent to try.

I’d give you a better chance of success with the current version of Avid than an old one though.

Try deleting the AMA Management folder

Windows: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Avid Media Composer\AMA Management
Mac: HD/Users/Shared/AvidMediaComposer/AMA Management

Sometimes errors will persist until you do this.

Many people have stopped using Merged Clips as they have many quirky limitations and switched to making Multicam group clips instead.
