Thanks for the clarification.
The Animation codec is still not a good choice for real time playback. It is not an editing codec (more of an intermediary codec). Try converting to 10 bit Uncompressed, which is optimized for playback in FCP.

What David is saying is that you have to convert your Flash animations into a format (8 or 10 bit Uncompressed, if your system is equipped with a capture card) that is appropriate for use in video editing applications. Flash wont work correctly in FCP or any other video editing program I know of. Perhaps Premeire, now that Adobe owns Flash.

You can save any webpage as a PDF file.
In Safari (or other web browser) File/Print/PDF (lower left side of dialog box)/Save as PDF.
Open in Photoshop. You will get a rasterize dialog. Make the dimensions much larger than your video frame size, if you wish to do “Ken Burns” type moves. Be sure to change the mode from its default CMYK to RGB.
Save as a Pict or Tiff file. Avoid JPEG if you want better quality.

You can increase the size of your waveform cache in your preferences. Try it and see if it helps. You might still have to wait a while for the initial caching, but thereafter you should have better performance.

DVCPRO 50 is natively 720 x 480. When captured via firewire, this is what you will get…all the FCP sequence presets are set for this.
If using a capture card, like AJA Kona, and capturing via SDI, the image size is 720 x 486…they simply add black lines to the top and bottom to fill in the remaining pixels.
You must use the Easy Setups provided by AJA (or create your own) to work with 720 x 486 DV50 footage. If you use the Apple ones, they assume you captured natively from firewire and have 720 x 480 footage…thus forcing you to render when using footage that does not conform to this size. -
DVCPRO 50 is 720 x 480 NOT 720 x 486.
