There is no “Edit Tab” anywhere in the User Settings. “Font” appears in the Edit Menu, but changing the font size for the bin using this command is global across all users…if any user changes the bin font size, it changes for all users.

What are you using for online? Conforming to tape based linear systems is not very common these days…are you using another NLE?

EDL’s were designed for linear tape based editing. Think of video track 1 as the record machine. -
No, other than switching editing platforms. Thats the paradigm Avid came up with long ago and they ain’t changin it.
I suppose you could use keyframed opacity (either with the super effect or the 3D warp effect) instead of dissolves, but its not really much easier than using add edit.

Put an Add Edit in the space a short distance after the dissolve and move it, along with the clip. In Avid, unlike FCP and other systems, the space is not empty, it is Filler…so technically you are doing a dissolve to Filler.

Not true. You can resize the tracks individually. I do it all the time.

In the render settings, select “play base layer only”

If you already have Avid Xpress Pro, just use that. The conform will be seamless and you dont have to buy the Duck. (EDL’s…they work..but soooo limited)
I say this as a huge supporter of FCP and the Duck. But if you have the opportunity to have total conform, why not go for it.
