Step into the matte key. Apply a Color Effect to the matte, and increase the contrast. See if that helps

Move the media into it.
do not include the media database files. let avid rebuild them.

If this doesnt help, you may have problem with the RAID.

“I want a QT file” is not a sufficient answer.
Quicktime is merely a container….there are dozens of different kinds of Quicktime formats, called codecs. Every file you capture and use in Final Cut Pro IS a Quicktime file already.
From your original post, it appears you want to use this for client review. How will your client be watching this…online? locally on a computer? Mac or PC? Old or new computer? How good does the quality need to be. More info is needed to answer your question with any degree of certaintly….however….taking a guess at what you are trying to accomplish.

File/Export/Quicktime Movie. Uncheck “make self contained”. Drag the resulting reference file into Compressor’s batch window. Choose one of the Web Download presets.

What country are you in?

If you use PAL equipment in the US you will see a flicker.

Are you viewing the PAL DVD on PAL equipment in a non-PAL country, like the USA. If so, the flicker you are seeing may be due to the 60hz electrical current.

Yep. The Avid Quicktime Codecs are not optimized for realtime playback. They are intended for interchange between graphics programs and Avid systems, not for editing on competing systems.

Remember the Avid itself does not use Quicktime in realtime playback. Every Quicktime is converted to OMF or MXF media on import.

Control Click on your Library. Select Show Package Contents. If your photos are in projects, control click on the enclosed projects and do the same.

You should put your Vault on a different disk. The whole point is to have a backup in case the disk fails.

Dont know what you did with the bloated file size photo…probably exported a JPEG as an uncompressed TIFF.

Check out the tutorial that comes with it. Like FCP, its a pretty deep program, and although its interface might seem familiar, the way it works is very different than other programs.

I thought you were working 24p, not NTSC. The conversion from PAL 25fps to 24fps is less complex than from 29.97.

Should produce fewer pulldown artifacts. Worth a try, anyway.
