[Budrick21] “When the mixer imports the OMF files, I’m told that not all of the media came through.”
I have seen this too in Avid exports. Usually due to unsupported formats, like MP3 being in the timeline. If you have any, convert the offending clips to uncompressed AIFF 48k Stereo and you should be good. OMF is an old format (Avid now defaults to AAF instead)….anything new and different in your timeline?

[weevie833] “FCP 5.1.4 version and below will export an OMF, but not embed the media”
this is not correct at all.
All versions of FCP only export OMF’s with embedded media. FCP cannot export linked OMF’s, like Avid’s can.Automatic Duck will allow older versions of FCP to keep the audio rubberbanding. Only FCP 6 and up will allow you to keep the rubberbanding w/o the Duck.

The procedure used to be much more complicated.
Thanks for posting this.

Download the latest Avid Codec here…
https://www.avid.com/onlineSupport/browse.asp?productID=0&topicID=404&browse=
The Meridien codecs are quite old.
BUT do not try to use this file within FCP. It won’t work well. Use Compressor to convert it to a codec optimized for use in FCP (Uncompressed 8 or 10 bit, DV, DV50)

Search for the term “Decompose” in your Avid Help.
Its all there.

Maybe its the computer.
My Dual 2GHZ G5 cannot capture or play Pro Res at all.
You really need to be using a MacPro, or if the stars are in perfect alignment, a Quad G5.
The 1920/1280 weirdness in the export is a bug that has been discussed here recently.
A workaround that helped me was putting a Broadcast Safe filter on the offending clips, then rendering. FCP now reads the render file instead of the original media, and the export works at the correct size–1280. In my case, I narrowed the problem down to a few clips (that had nothing actually wrong with them–they were the correct frame size).

You are right msacci, I should have read his posting more carefully.
This does not sound like ‘through edits’ being hidden -
There is an option in your preferences whether to show what FCP calls a “through edit”. A through edit in FCP is similar to an “Add Edit” in Avid. In FCP, you have the option to not show them…in Avid, you use the “Remove Add Edit” command to get rid of them.
You seem to have “Show Through Edits” turned off.

How to add an AUX TC is described in FCP 6 Help on page II-447.
If you are using a different version of FCP, just search for the term aux timecode.
-
Going that route sounds like a pretty weird way of attacking that problem. (and its not possible).
Why don’t you assign an AUX timecode that matches the others to the oddball camera. Assign the same timecode to all the other cameras AUX TC. Then use AUX TC to sync your multiclip.
