  • Complete FCP Suite 2 re-install… any ideas?

    Hi All,

I know this has been covered in other areas. But there are a bunch of ways to do it, and I was curious as to how people would suggest doing a full-blown re-install of FCP Suite 2. I am having trouble with compressor 3 as it won’t open, and previously when I had FCP HD on this system it Compressor wouldn’t run when being sent a project from FCP as it claimed FCP was busy and could not provide a preview, so it automatically closed FCP and then Compressor.

So it seems as though a full out re-install is what I need to do to get a fresh kick at the can with the FCP Suite 2 on this system.

If anyone can provide suggestions and/or links that would be great. I’ve seen partial explanations here and there, but not full explanations, especially not for FCP Suite 2.

I am running a MacBook Pro 2.33, 2GB RAM and enough hard drive space to run things comfortably.

If anyone can lend a helpful hand that would be great!

    Thanks!

Apple has this on their FCS support forum:

You delete the applications, preferences, and the receipts.

    receipts are in Library>Receipts

This is used to show if a program has already been installed, if you leave this it will not do a full install, it will only do an upgrade which installs files that don’t exist. Removing the receipts will make the FCS installer overwrite even existing files like the Application Assets, i.e., LiveFonts or Soundtrack audio files.

The procedure used to be much more complicated.
