If you have the Avid codec package installed, for SD you can use Avid Meridien Uncompressed 1:1 or 1:1x.
DV is generally a pretty poor quality codec. DV50 is not bad, if you want to use less space than uncompressed.
I’d avoid Avid Meridien 2:1 or greater Compressed, though they are still widely used. -
Make sure you didnt make an HDDVD by mistake.

Both Boris Continuum and Genarts Sapphire have plugins to deal with this. Unfortunately you have to buy the whole suite…however the trial versions are fully functional for limited time. You can download the trial versions and play with it…though they don’t fix it in every instance.

This cropped up last week on another project in the same facility I was working with. The system was not running v6… It was running 5.03.
They were having media database problems due to the Asian characters. Deleting those characters from the file name fixed the issue. Because there were many files, they used a program that automated the process.

I usually set my CBR no higher than 7. Any higher is asking for trouble with burned DVDs.
Also use AC3 for your audio instead of Aiff/PCM.

Take a look at the media file names. We had some issues with some files having asian characters (japanese?) in the file names for some bizarre reason. Once deleted, everything worked fine.

Make a short test file of your most challenging material and compare.
In my experience, I have found Compressor, when using the Frame Controls set to Better or Best, does an excellent resize. I also found doing the downscale first…and not trying to do it combined with the MPEG-2 encode, results in better quality. Make an SD intermediate, either Uncompressed or Pro Res, then encode that to MPEG-2. If its a relatively short piece, use CBR for the MPEG encode and not VBR.

If its QuickTime, you can probably install Compresor 4 for 49 bucks. That gives you all the FCP codecs.
Then you can still AMA. -
XDCAM works native. Just mount the card via AMA and consolidate to your drive.

Right/control click on it and select Open with Disc Image Mounter which should appear as a choice. If not, use Disc Utility.
