We do an archive from the FCP project using media manager and back up to dual layer blu-rays which hold about 50 gigs. They will last a lot longer than a drive.

Just make sure in XDcam software that you are pointing to the folder HOLDING the Bpav folder. That seems to work for me. Also, follow the recent instructions on setting up your preferences in XDCam.

I concur, each Bpav folder needs to be in its own folder. We never have a problem with XDcam or need any other software besides FCP and Sony.
When we are shooting, we make folders for each card.

Not sure why you cannot stay in Sony XDcam codec, send finished sequence to Color, then, render from Color to pro res.
That is how I have done it in the past. I keep a saved version of the Final Uncorrected sequence (XDcam) and a Color Corrected version.

We have the JVC and it works great. It is connected via Kona Lhe, SDI and never fails. Have had it two years and still running.

Here is how I have used it in the past. Make an HD sequence and add your SD clip(s). Call this your source ftg. In the motion tab, make sure the the setting for the clip is 100%. it will look small in the record window.
Edit the SD ftg from the Source Sequence into your HD sequence. Add your Instant HD filter to that and check the fit to fill setting in the INstant HD setting. Also make sure the input size in the settings is set your original SD setting.

Is the mpeg Streamclip encodes quality as good as Compressor? i usually use compressor to encode to Pro-res and works like a charm. the speed for dailies isnt that bad

I tried Magic Bullet Gate weave but since the title was a keyed PNG it messed with the key. I will try playing with it or take it to AE or Motion
