Pre-comp your Illustrator file into a compostion that is the exact resolution and frame rate as the tracked shot. Apply your tracking/corner pin data to this layer.

Brent, I know exactly what you’re saying. Here’s fix:
    1. Select the AE clip in FCP
    2. Shift+D brings up the “Make Offline” dialog box
    3. Select “Delete from Disk”
    4. Hide FCP
    5. Command+Empty Trash (Secure Empty Trash)
*This may take a few moments, but you can proceed to the next step while this is happening.
    6. Render new file in AE
    7. Unhide FCP and relink to new file.

Another tip: Normally empty the trash before step 1 saves some delete time.

[walter biscardi] “This story is so similar to the “See if you just help me out on this one project, I’ll have a LOT of work for you coming up” kind of potential client.”

The best way to test this common statement is to say, “The first project will be full price, if that leads to ongoing work, we’ll talk about a volume discount on the other projects.”

If that first project never happens, you’ve just saved yourself a bunch of time and money.

  • Compressor can conform. It’s not as fast as Cinema tools; actually you’ll really dislike the amount of time it will take. But it’s possible:

In the video settings tab, select the codec (ProRes) and change the frame rate to 25.
In the Frame Controls tab at the bottom select Rate Conversion/Best.
Click the very bottom button that says, “so source frames play at 25”
Output at 100% of source and yer good to go.

I assume you’re planning on pulling a key from the green card; this will create your mask. So I’m not sure what you mean by “adjusting the key color”. You can simply garbage mask anything else in the scene that happens to be close to your green key color. You can also mask out the tracking markers after you’ve pulled the data from them.
