New information: I am able to capture in FCP3 in OS 9.2.2 at high data rates. This is good news for me, however, I am unable to capture with the same hardware in FCP 3 in OX 10.3.8 above 2200K.
I did recently install OSX panther and I am using it with FCP3. I can’t say that I have ever captured at a high data rate in OSX. Not sure what’s going on here, I have posted an inquiry on the Igniter newsgroup so far nothing…thought somebody over here might have some ideas.
thanks for any help

I solved the problem by installing FCP and DVDSP in OSX. I am now outputting m2v’s, thanks for your advice. I appreciate it.

September 1, 2006 at 3:05 am in reply to: it says FCP must be serialized in order to do MPEG2?Thanks, Tom, yeah I installed DVDSP and authorized it. I’m good now.

Something is profoundly wrong with my FCP3 Export. Not only do my m2v’s export with NO VIDEO, but also any quicktimes I try to output don’t turn out.
For example, I try to export a quicktime at 8 megs a second, what I get is a quicktime with an all white image with a data rate of 600K per second.
Yet when I was bullding the project, of when I capture footage, everything is fine there. The clips look as they should. Any clues??

Yes I do have an OSX version on my FCP3 disk, but it wouldn’t install. Thanks for the suggestion, I will try again.

I will attempt to clear up the confusion I have created. What I meant was…
When I attempt to export MPEG 2’s in FCP3, it says NO VIDEO. What am I doing wrong?
sincere thanks

I am using FCP3. I’ve done this procedure before, and it always worked. Perhaps I’ll have to change my routine, but I’m telling you, when i exported mpeg 2’s, it always generated audio along with the video. In this case, it’s in fact exporting audio only, no video, which is most puzzling.

And the envelope please…
This from the photoshop help:
“Important: When you stroke a path… Make sure the layer you want is active before beginning. You cannot stroke a path when a layer clipping mask or text layer is active.”
So the answer, at least for me, was to select an open and available layer. If a shape or work path is selected only, stroke function is not available. A layer must be selected in order for stroke to work.
Another issue is that paths should be selected for the pen tool, not “shape layers”. These are little visual menu buttons at the left side of the photoshop menu bar.

Don’t you mean, regenerate it? If so, then I recompress and lose quality. This is not uncompressed footage. ALso exporting will take a long time. I will consider your solution, but regenerating clips doesn’t seem too efficient.
thanks

Actually, I’ll retract this inquiry based on a good thread on the issue that was launched June 3rd 06.
cheers
