Also remember the square vs non-square (rectangular) pixels issue from Photoshop to video.

Walter – Thank for the great information.
A final question – i hope — the post concerning Button1 to Button 1 was not about going from one menu to another, rather jumping back to the same button??
Concerning the project file being a Windows project – perhaps their coding sees the Intel Mac as a windows machine because it’s Intel?? Who knows.
You say you have talked to Adobe tech support quite a bit and they have no answers?
I guess we are stuck with Encore as an interum solution because I for one can not spend $300 a month for a new solution like NetBlender’s Do thing as an untested, not understood application and Blueprint is priced out of the little guy’s market.
It will be interesting if Apple gives us a true BluRay – Java based – scriptable solution clothed in pretty clothes solution.
Thanks again for the help.

That is exactly what I am doing right now.
I purchased a MacBoook Pro 17″ (2007) at 2.33 Ghz with 3 GB RAM (you can use 4 GB) and two pieces from Firmtek.com.
They have an Express-34 dual SATA drive adapter and a two bay external SATA enclosure, that I can carry around in a backpack.
I just last week up dated my 160 GB 5400 drive to a 320 GB 5400 drive so that I could comfortably install Final Cut Studio 2 and Logic Pro onto this drive.
it is my only Intel based machine, at this time so I can take advantage of Adobe apps.
The newer MacBook Pro’s have 250 GB drives and better video cards than my X1600.
I can hook up the MBP to a 23″ desktop monitor and really go to town.
The 2.33 Ghz Duo 2 core feels about as fast as my Quad G5 when editing.
The latest MBP computers are truly ready for anything.

Thanks Walter –
So, you can not successfully make a two menu project; like main menu (one) and chapter menu (two) with several chapter buttons successfully? Does that also mean chapter markers do not import into Encore.
Is there an “end jump” facility in Encore than just doesn’t work or what???
The other amazing statement is the one about not being able to open a project made successfully a week ago??
The app does have a project file- right? Is it that the project file just automatically gets corrupted?
Also, do you use the BluRay encoding output from Compressor in FCP 6 to prepare content for Encore?
Thank you for the answers.

June 22, 2008 at 11:15 pm in reply to: Quad G5, Sonnet E4P and Lacie Biggest Quadra issuesIf you want speed, then NEVER EVER use RAID 0+1. it must write to both disks, the same information.
If you want speed then use a real RAID 0 with at least 4 stripes. Each stripe adds about 60 MB/sec using SATA drives. If you want security, then RAID 0+1 is best. Actually, RAID 5 is most often used as a good compromise.

Unless you want to invest in a real SAN disk solution, you might consider putting a couple of SATA drives inside each of the three MacPro’s for local storage and use a SATA RAID attached to one of the MacPro’s as semi-SAN solution for others to access over Gigabit ethernet.
It is my impression that doing Firewire chaining of drives is DANGEROUS!
The solution to connect every MacPro to a RAID box via Fiberchannel is REALLY expensive!

Hi,
Firewire only handles 2 audio tracks

If you are looking for a versatile camera, then the HVX-200 is the one.
Pro’s – DVCPRO-25 (miniDV) in camera tape, DVCPRO-50 (DigiBeta) and DVCPRO-100(HD) (720p 10801i/p24) – variable frame rates(limited but good) DVCPRO-50and HD records to P2 cards (+or- depending on point of view)
Con’s – P2 recording except DV, Fixed lens, unevenly weighted (side to side), hard to focus in 1080 mode on smallish LCD fold out
Overall A Great camera with a 4 audio inputs for DVCPro-50 and Beautiful Pictures

Did you have the (2) 750GB drives RAIDed as RAID 0 with DiskUtility setup?
If so, and you haven’t done anything to either drive ; simply choose those two drives again, in DiskUtils RAID setup, trying to keep them in original order. If there is no other problem than loosing the RAID setup, it should go back together.

January 14, 2008 at 4:22 pm in reply to: Need Help! New To HD Hardware and HVX-200 Camerawant to do all this on a Computer that will be custom built with computer parts that will actually run MAC Leopard Operating System. Leopard will run on a custom built computer so long as you use the proper hardware that is compatible with Leopard OS such as the Motherboard,CPU, RAM, and Video Card. A Friend of mine did it and it runs beautifully. Have i seen his computer run Final Cut Pro and Edit HD video on it, NO. Only because he doesnt use his computer for Video, hes into Web Design, But I dont see why it wouldnt run Final Cut Pro because he has all the Mac Version Adobe Softawre such as photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver and it runs like an orchestra. I was stunned, but if i build my own system with Fast enough hard drives, 4GB ram, Intel Motherboard, Quadprocessor, basically same parts that Apple is using in their Mac Pro’s, Do any of you think the Computer Will Be Able To Handle it? Ive already had one person call me crazy so unless u have something intelegent and beneficial for me to say, please refrain from making pointless responses. If someone knows what i will need for Computer Hardware to be able to do what i want to do and have it Handle HD Footage and Editing on the timeline smoothly, Please inform me on what type of Hard Drives i will need and how fast they should be. If all you can say is to get an actual MAC Pro, that is not what i am asking you to tell me. Anyone including myself knows that i could order an actual MAC Pro from Apple and be good to go. I Am trying to avoid that pricey cost of an Apple Computer.
So, I take it that you are planning o building a PC box that can use a copy of Leopard that is “cracked” to run on an Intel platform?
Building the hardware is not unthinkable. Apple uses all standard PC components such as 7200 RPM 3.5″ disk drives and unless you are going to be able to purchase an Apple motherboard and case, I can only guess you are trying to build a standard PC box to run this on?
One area that you are going to have problems with is the video card. Apple motherboards can not use off the shelf PC video cards.
On the other hand, I really don’t understand how you are going to build this for less than Apple pays to put on of theirs together. The main cost of a computer are the CPU chips and the latest Intel CPU’s are not a bargain.
If you have a fair amount of computer sense and some money to throw at this then give it a go. Seems that your friend was able to, somehow;so nothing like learning!
