If the video has been edited, and you want to sync recorded music to it, export the video edit from FCP and import it to Logic. Then, as you playback the video, record music to it. This is not easy. Easier if you sync with Midi. Maybe you can add a click track in Logic to guide you along. But, if you have already recorded the music to be synced, then you have to cut up those tracks into bits and manually position them to match the video. This can be tedious as + or – 1 frame can make a difference. I’m not completely clear about what you want to do, but in the future it might make sense to have a click track played during the video shoot so whatever actions you take are “in time.”

If working in a HD sequence, why not just crop the 16×9 footage to 4×3? If OTOH you want to do this in a SD sequence, then choose an Easy Setup for ProRes NTSC or other high-quality codec (8-bit uncompressed for instance). Make sure your frame rate is correct in the sequence settings. When you drop in your 720P clip it should fill the frame. If it doesn’t make sure size is 100% in the Motion tab. I don’t know why you’d lose quality doing this unless your sequence compressor setting is off. Also, if you’re not monitoring with an external broadcast monitor, you’ll never be sure of what you really have. At the least set your canvas to 100% size.

I always export. And Qmaster is set up so Compressor uses all the cores. That might not be possible when sharing, although, I’m not sure about that.

I always export a QT Using Current Settings (not QT Conversion) and use that file in Compressor for encoding.
