Integrating different audio sources
Hi guys – 1st post here
I’m dealing with Audio from different sources – namely stuff created in Logic Studio and stuff recorded through the cam mic.
What i’m trying to achieve is something like this – a youtube vid of this guy playing an instrument (14secs in). The soundtrack has been made entirely from this one instrument using multitrack recording.
I can’t get my head around syncing/correlating the audio and video together. The problem is the volume of footage, both audio and visual, and then matchin the correct visual bit with the correct audio audio. If it was a single track, made of just one take… easy. But I could record hours of footage but only use a small portion – the portion that made it into the music. So…how do correlate the bit of video with the bit of audio recorded in logic.
Bear in mind that logging as I go is out of the question because I’m videoing a creative process – I don’t want to stop a moment of inspiration to write down details. So clapper board is probably out too
I’m thinking that I could match footage of both audio and video by matching the creation date of the audio recorded directly into the computer with the timecode/date created info generated from the camcorder.
Is there a better solution?
Is there room for refining?
Have I lost the plot? Please, I’d love to hear peoples thoughts on this process
Thanks
Paul
