ProRes is a good choice. Try ProResLT and see how that looks. I’d test it all the way through to the DVD. ProRes won’t increase the quality of your DV footage, but the WM graphic will be higher quality than adding the WM to a DV sequence.

What kind of footage & what codec was used? Why do you think it’s wrong? Did you shoot with timecode and it’s not showing up?

There’s a Lexar FW800 reader that claims 800Mb/sec (or 100MB/sec). And Lexar also has an ExpressCard reader that screams at 2.5Gbps.

There are many post options. If you edit with Final Cut, Apple Color which comes with the suite is an amazing grading tool. It comes with a variety of presets, but many others are available from 3rd parties. With Color (or any post option) you can always change your mind. Also checkout Red Giant/Magic Bullet for a variety of tools – Colorista II and Looks.

You might also try Bias’ SoundSoap Pro. I use both as sometimes one works better than the other on a particular issue. They, too, have a trial version.

iZotope RX has a click removal function, but how successfully it works is dependent on many parameters. They have a trial version so you can test to see how it works.

As Rafael suggests keep your native codec by exporting a self-contained QuickTime Using Current Settings. Going to a higher bit rate codec does not increase the quality, just the size.
