I’m not sure how to do this in the Viewer (if it’s even possible there), but when the clip is in the sequence timeline, if you select it and then option-L it should should change from stereo to 2 mono tracks. There’s also the Stereo Pair selection in the Modify menu that will do the same thing.

I’m not sure why the audio would play choppy. Check to see of the sample rates of the sequence and files match. If you have a lot of audio tracks try mixing them down. Perhaps you’re stressing your processor.

TRS stands for Tip Ring Sleeve (I believe this nomenclature originated in telephone operations). It describes the three contacts on a 1/4″ jack. The tip is the contact at the tip, the next contact is ring and the longest contact is the sleeve. In a balanced connection, typically, tip is high, ring is low and sleeve is ground.

As the article states, even though it’s not clear if this fraud is for real, no one should ever divulge personl info over the phone (or via email). I like Tony’s approach above.

Check to see if your camcorder has input level controls and try raising them more so you don’t have to go into the red as much. If you don’t have actual controls on the exterior of the camcorder, they may exist in a menu somewhere. Check your manual.

Usually you won’t have problems is you’re just going +3 into the red. Much more than that or if the meters are always banging the pins or going to the top, and you might get distortion out of the mixer. If you’re able to shoot a bit of a rehearsal with the sound levels at performance levels, that would be the final test.
