    If you search the Cow you’ll find links to Avid codecs that when installed on your Mac will allow you to export files from FCP that Avid can use.

    Whenever you deliver a flv, regardless of how it’s made, it’s always put in a swf for inclusion on a website. If you have to deliver that swf, then you need a third-party app. Squeeze will do that and I’m sure Telestream will, too. The app will encode your video and embed in a Flash player.

    Hi, Chris. Echo’s one of those things you can’t really get rid of. I read about this filter, played around with it a bit and maybe it can help a little.

    Open the audio in Soundtrack Pro. There’s a filter you get to through the Process Menu > Effects > Dynamics > Enveloper > Show User Presets (twirl them open) > Roomkiller. It works a bit like a noise gate – maybe a bit more sophisticated. Play with the threshold, attack and release time, and negative gain (the gain control to the right). Maybe the addition of a little audience ambiance might help mask the echo. Good luck.

    The easiest way is to export a ref or self-contained QT. Bring that into Compressor and encode an H.264 version of it. Use the frame size and data rate your client desires. After it’s encoded, change the .mov extension to .flv and you’re finished. There are a number of third-party software programs that do this. Sorenson’s Squeeze is the one we use.

    I use a similar system to offload P2s and have never seen this. Try re-seating the adaptor in the slot, repair permissions and then reboot. You might also try to reininstall the adaptor’s driver and the P2 driver. Otherwise, you’ll have to do it manually. Be sure to copy both the contents folder and lastclip file into separate folders for each card.

    It sounds like you’re making a stereo DVD properly. Perhaps the older players are just mono or are cabled improperly. Have you heard either of those players playing stereo?

    You can copy mono tracks in FCP to a second track with no increase in noise. Overall, you’ll have to lower the gain of both channels as the audio will get louder by doing this. It’s not necessary to do this unless one mono track wasn’t loud enough. This would be a way to fix that. With just one audio track, I’m assuming you’ve got it panned to the middle (unless the track has an effect you’re panning in stereo space).

    Selec both the video and audio tracks and Cmd-L will link them. If you have 2 audio tracks Cntl-L will switch them from mono to stereo. If the addition of audio is causing you to have to render, check that the audio sample rate is 48kHz. This is the sample rate FCP (and most pro video apps) wants to see.
