Sequence clips to files: 1 clip – 1 file
Posted by Max Chernyaev on July 9, 2009 at 5:53 pmIs there any way to do that? Guys from CG department ask for a ‘decomposed’ sequence so that they have sequence shots as files, one shot after another. One shot per file, files numbered sequentially.
Yes, I’ve seen several ‘decompose’ posts here, but creating offline sequences will not do here because there’s no way to number that files as they appear in sequence. Or there is?John Fishback replied 16 years, 10 months ago 2 Members · 4 Replies -

July 9, 2009 at 6:13 pmIf you mean export an image sequence of an edited program (or a single clip) you can Export Using Quicktime Conversion > Image Sequence and use Options to choose the format of the image (eg TIFF). You’ll end up with a bunch of separate images: image_1, image_2 … image_150.

July 10, 2009 at 2:20 pmSorry, maybe my description is not quite clear. Not image sequence. I need to render FCP sequence not to a single MOV file, but to a number of files. Each file for one clip from in to out.

July 11, 2009 at 6:03 pmAs far as I know, there isn’t an automatic way to do this. You’d have to export each file one-by-one and name them sequentially. Maybe there’s a way to do it with an xml of the sequence and a script. I’d also check out Media Manager. You might be able to copy just the media used in your sequence with no handles. But, I don’t know if you can change the naming of the media.

July 12, 2009 at 6:08 pmJust remembered a tutorial that might help. It’s about using Automator (a program that comes with Leopard) to automate a process within FCP. https://library.creativecow.net/articles/cowdog/automator.php
