This is a guess. Select the bin, then Export Batch List. Import that into Excel then sum the duration column. You may have to find a routine that adds time properly if that’s not already an option in Excel.

As a test convert an avi to a one-minute ProRes clip using Compressor (which can use multiple cores). Then convert that to wmv (again with Compressor). Time that and you’ll have an idea how long the process will take for your entire program. Check your settings when making wmvs. Using tep-pass encoding will result in a better end result, but using one-pass CBR will encode faster and may be fine quality-wise.

You’ll need to learn about three apps in FCS: 1) FCP where you’ll edit your clips and then export files to be encoded; 2) Compressor to encode the clips; and 3) DVD Studio Pro where you’ll author the DVD and then burn it.

It’s possible that part of the the media you’re trying to export is corrupt. Try exporting a different frame. What exactly is your export workflow. What type of still are you trying to export?

How are you encoding the wmv? Does the audio and video end on the same frame in your timeline? If not, extend one track or use a Slug. Years ago, different length audio & video sometimes caused a problem. Just a thought.
