    Hi,
I am brand new to the Mac world and certainly to the Final Cut Pro world. I have been doing all my video rendering and DVD creation on the PC side. I have some WMV files that I want to load into FCP, but can FCP work with these files? If not, do I need to convert to another format? One other thing, It would like to view a good introductory tutorial for FCP if someone can recommend it. I have FC Studio3. Thanks for your help in advance.

You’ll need to convert your files to Quicktime. You’ll need Flip4Mac to do the job: https://www.telestream.net/flip4mac-wmv/overview.htm

Thank you. I did look into that and have the program now. Another question is that I am a complete newbie to FCP. This project is a simple one. I want to take 4 video files and just put them on a DL Disc with a basic chapter menu so I can select the clip I want to play. Where can I find a basic step by step tutorial on how to do this with FCP?

Here’s the link to tutorials you can find on the Cow.

You’ll need to learn about three apps in FCS: 1) FCP where you’ll edit your clips and then export files to be encoded; 2) Compressor to encode the clips; and 3) DVD Studio Pro where you’ll author the DVD and then burn it.
