    I still haven’t upgraded, although, I’ve got the disks. I’m not fixing what ain’t broke. I’ve heard FCS & SL play well together, but that there are still some software & hardware products that aren’t compatible. But I just saw a software product (I think from Noise Industries or SugarFX) that requires SL. So, the time may be coming for the upgrade.

    Select all the clips then Command+Shift+T will apply the default audio fade between all clips.

    Your Kona probably allows you to key a title over the signal in real time. My Kona 3 does. Look in the Kona Control Panel for the DS Keyer tab.

    For no render the audio must be PCM 48kHz 16 or 24 bit. The Z7 records in 2 audio modes. The cameraman must switch to the 16bit/48kHz mode to avoid rendering in FCP.

    This might be due to file size limitations due to formatting. For example, P2 cards have a 4GB limit due to FAT32 formatting. The P2 Log & Transfer workflow in FCP, however, combines these spanned clips into one clip on injest. I’ve never used media from a 700 and don’t know if there’s a workflow that will stitch together the files the way you want. You might search the JVC forum to see if there’s a solution there.

    There’s a great little program from Digital Heaven called Loader that will convert various flavors of audio on import to PCM 48k 16 bit. That’s what professional video editing systems/devices expect to see.
