I do this all the time with DVCProHD footage. I export a QT using Current settings and use that HD file in Compressor to make the SD mv2 & ac3 files.

This is probably better done in AfterFX or, perhaps, Motion. CoreMelt has a number of audio-driven plugins (they’re called Vee-You) that you might be able to adapt for your use.

Folks will need more info to help you out. What codec did you use when capturing the clips? What are your sequence settings? What’s your edit and export workflow? What codec did you export? It also helps to know the components of your edit system: computer, drives, etc. and the software versions you’re using.

Color is a high-end color grading system. It’s significantly more powerful than the 3-way CC or Colorista (which is preferred by many over the 3-way CC). Color has a steep learning curve, but it’s worth learning. Walter Biscardi has an excellent tutorial. Search for it and it’ll pop up. Here’s a link to a tutorial by Stu Maschwitz which is an excellent discussion of grading style. And here’s a video by Walter comparing FCP and Color.

7 is a good max. If you encode your audio as ac3 its data rate is only 192 kbps compared to about 1500 kbps for aiff audio. Using ac3 allows you to pump up the video data rate higher and still be safe.

I’d scan your pix at 1280×720. Keep the ProResLT. You’ve given FCP a non-standard frame size and it’s trying to unsuccessfully scale the pix in real time.

Those settings are in the Encoder tab (I think that’s what it’s called) in the Inspector. Just beware of maxing out the data rate too much. Once the audio + video data rate exceeds 8 Mbps many DVD players start to choke. The maximum rate allowed by the spec is around 10 Mbps.
