QuickTime Codec
I got some footage from a colleague.
He shot it in DVCPRO HD (1080p30) and provided it to me as a QuickTime file.
I have QuickTime Pro 7.6.6.
When I play it on my PC (Windows XP Professional), I hear sound, but the picture is black.
When I try to play it on my iMac, it says I need a codec.
When I import it into FCP, the screen is still black.
When I try to export it using QuickTime Pro or MPEG Streamclip, it turns the black screen white.
He recorded another couple of segments in ProRes 422 and I can read those just fine.
Any idea what codec I need?

Ken, open the file in QT7 (not the SL one, the good one) and click Window/Show Movie Inspector. Under Format, there is a clue. Let us know that. Also, if you have access to a PC or a virtual windows space, there is a program called Gspot Codec Appliance that will be more precise. Download here: https://www.headbands.com/gspot/

The Apple DVCPRO HD codec is only available with FCP. It’s not available on machines that do not have FCP, either Mac or PC.
