Kevin:
Thanks for the input. I’ve started giving FCP’s keyer more attention and are getting better results with it. If you don’t mind another questions, do you feel that BCC or DVMatte actually get you cleaner keys or that they’re easier to use or just some of both.
Thanks again,

Thanks, Kristian: A new G5 is in the mix, so that’s not a problem.

Thanks for the recommendation. The Extreme HD is card that I’ve been leaning towards. Some people have said that AJA Kona is considered the best overall card, though. Do you have any perspective on that as far as reliability and support?
Thanks again.

May 14, 2006 at 1:08 pm in reply to: Using 30 frame, interlaced footage in 24P Advanced TimelineWell, both actually. In the NTSC monitor all the movement looks extra jerky. I’m used to it being somewhat that way, as when I use nattress film effects to make 30 frames look like 24, but this is a little too much. The movement looks a little smoother in the the CRT, but during movement the edges of images show these horizontal lines.
I think I see where you’re going, though. Maybe I need to output something to tape or DVD and see what it looks like then?

Thanks for the suggestions, both of those check out okay. Two other things that I’ve discovered: If I turn off the warning about dropped frames, then I can keep working except that the display freezes both NTSC and in the timeline. If I close and reopen the sequence then things work again.

Thanks. My partner tried it and says it converted the ALE to a txt file, but I’m not sure how to import that into FCP.

I’m sorry, but what do you mean by the thumbnail column?
I too have had some random crashes in 5.02 and Tiger and have recently gone back to 4.5 and Panther because of it. I also have had consistant crashes when I try to export a sequence to a quicktime movie. I’m using the Aurora Igniter RT on a dual 1.25, G4, 3 Medea G-Raids for storage.
Thanks

Jerry:
So if I install everything on a new drive instead, then I just have to change my startup drive when I shut down each time, right? Also I paid for the upgrage to FCP Studio not the full package. Will that cause me a problem when I’m trying to upgrade to a new system drive? All in all I really like the idea of putting this whole new box on a new drive and upgrading to Tiger as part of it.
Thanks

Do I only need to rename the application itself? What about the preference and other files, will they be overwritten?

Thanks for the response. If I could ask one more thing: You mentioned that if I shoot in Advanced mode I can remove the pull-down pattern on the fly as I capture. Could you explain how I do that? Is it a FCP setting on capture? Also, if I do that am I losing any of the film-like effect from the 24P.
Thanks again for your help.
