The wedding photogs ended up being great about it – BUT – they never turned off the shutter sound from their canons. I guess it’s always something….

If anybody wants to see, it’s a blend of 7D and FS700.

Right, but he’s not on a MPBr. He’s asking specifically about FCPX, in which case it’s not going to add features to his current FCPX. Personally I think it’s worth upgrading for just for everything that comes along with it, although I hesitate to refer strangers to any OS in a .0 or .1 status, especially if the person asking doesn’t know much about the OS.

Mountain Lion is more of a cosmetic change to Lion. Pretty much nothing will change in relation to how FCPX runs with either OS. If you decide to install ML on a system with lots of storage, be sure to give the system plenty of time to install (like overnight). The algorithms that show ‘time left’ on the install get a little confused when large storage is attached, in my experience.

You need at least Snow Leopard to upgrade it via the App store. I believe you can call Apple and order Lion or Mountain Lion by mail.

Last month they said it was coming in August. Guess this stuff is harder to implement than expected.

I’m shooting a wedding for a friend this weekend with the FS700. I’ve explained to the bride that if this happens, she’ll spend the next 40 years hating whoever gets in the way – at 240 fps. Hopefully when I chat with the official photographer she’ll also stay clear.

I’m also bringing a squirt gun.

I wish it did work that way. I see a world where DMG’s are gonna get filled up pretty quickly, even if setting sparse bundles with up to 100 gigs of room and referenced media. We have a 250gig event (using referenced media) of just render files for about 30 ten second spots. We were kind of surprised it got so bloated.

I think we are going to need a preference to select specific locations for render files one of these days. Also, importing audio from the media browser still copies to events, even if ‘copy to’ is unselected in preferences.

We don’t keep the media inside the event. We have a media folder on the NAS that all DMG’s refer to and are separate from any specific event. Moving the media from within the event doesn’t work in the way we’re setting it up. Source footage is broken down inside based on media/network/show.

It should relink correctly, it just doens’t want to for some clips – especially if the media is inside a compound clip for some reason.
