Have you checked into Schedule-All? A few of the networks I work with use it and love it – one interesting thing, get a widescreen monitor and turn it sideways. The programs uses vertical space so a sideways monitor (rotated 90 degrees in display settings) makes the ladies at one particular network very happy.
Good luck!

You’re right. My mistake – organs failing kills people. I have personal memory of this – my father was almost killed by a B3 Hammond that nearly fell off of a truck in the early 80’s.
I guess you could say it failed to stay upright.
With that in mind, we should also add any movie with organs in them to the list of newly R Rated movies. Better make that any movie with a keyboard, because they also have organ sounds.
I knew that “music and lyrics” just felt a little ‘evil’.

Here’s my favorite line.
“The San Francisco-based center Smoke Free Movies claims that movies are responsible for 5,000 smoking-related deaths a month that might have been prevented by an R rating. The group also says movies are responsible half of the 800,000 children a year who start smoking.”
Um, how exactly does one research something that, clearly, is unresearchable? Part of the reason I left news was that in everyone’s haste to crank out sensational sounding stories, facts from biased groups went unchecked, assuming that the writer of the story agrees with the presenter of said facts. Now, in case you’re already writing what a horrible person I am for seeming to represent the side of the tobacco company executives (who, everybody knows, are actually representatives of Satan), please wait for me to finish my thought.
Where does it end? Since Earth is set to spontaneosly combust sometime in December 2008, depending on who you vote for, perhaps we should give every film an “R” rating that shows a protagonist driving a v-8 engine. My research suggests we could save 6 billion lives for every film restricted with this logic.
Also, any film showing an abortion will encourage young girls to get abortions, so let’s now restrict that as well. While we’re at it, sex caused the abortion in the first place, so that’s another “R”. The exception is if the abortionee dies on the table. That’s an automatic “G”.
Uh oh, Shrek ate fried chicken – heart disease. Gimme an “R”!
This is fun, let’s keep going.
Spider-Man shows violence. Violence kills people. Bam. R.
Harry Potter = Magic = Not republican = R.
E.T. showed kids resisting arrest to save an illegal alien, and they were REWARDED for that behavior. OH…MY….GOD….R!!!!
Grease, sex, R.
Since social unrest leads to civil war which leads to a significant number of deaths each year, from now on any movie featuring resistance to a recognized government will be given an ‘R’ rating.
For Example:
Schinlder’s List
The Sound of Music
Top Secret
The Lion King (when Simba was replaced with that evil Lion dude, the evil Lion dude was leader of the government, Simba fomented rebellion). All R.
I used to obsess about sex as a teenager in church, mostly because the preacher would refer to premarital sex as evil, and talk about how it’s the path to hell, etc. Man, that sure made it cool! At least until hymn time when I had to stand up…..
Therefore, any chuch, religious, or non-scientology based reference will automatically receive an R.
Any movie featuring the breaking of law will now get an R.
See, it’s fun and easy. We just saved the world – now get ready to live forever!!!
In all seriousness, the MPAA, FCC, and their ilk are becoming more and more irrelevant. With current technology, anybody can make a movie, meaning more non-traditionally distributed films, leading to less films even being submitted for MPAA review because they’re straight to youtube. Eventually MPAA will be relegated to just giving “G” ratings to disney films, as producers seek out the most offensive way to break rules. Seriously, how many people read that article and wanted to make a movie where people do nothing but chainsmoke, win the lottery, and have risky sex with people far more attractive than they should?
There are better ways to discourage directors and the like from featuring unpopular images. We’re all actively looking to break rules for attention – this is the last one we need.
Of course, I could be wrong and just killed 5,000.

May 20, 2007 at 11:20 pm in reply to: rt. click mouse? Track ball? what do the pros use?I use a logitech media play mouse with about 12 buttons that I mapped using a program called usb overdrive. It takes quite a few keystrokes out of the way like: snapping on/off, next edit, volume up/down, etc. I find that, for me, it works best to use the mouse with fcp, Maya, and the majority of Apple apps.
For After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and the adobe family, I use a wacom intuos tablet.
Ultimately you’ll have to try each setup out for a day and see what works best for you.
Good luck!

Dude, I had the same printer and gave it away last week after struggling with it’s picky on/off behavior for 2 years. I’m very excited to get an opportunity to rant about the experience.
I’m not exactly sure why HP bundles the driver you need with 80 megs of crapware, perhaps it’s just to make you feel like you have a pc. Regardless, mark the psc2175 the last HP product I will buy.
The problems I ran into were:
Print que becomes locked up and unresponsive, whether directly connect to the airport ‘n’ extreme or wired into my g5 and shared through the network that way.
No ability to scan without 3rd party shareware like Vuescan.
HP software just made things worse (and LOVES to run at startup for no reason)
Print manager wouldn’t mange anything. Couldn’t delete jobs waiting, etc.
So what did I do? I gave up on this stupid printer and gave it away. It would print about 40% of the time, so maybe he’ll have better luck. I swore that I would get a printer that was capable of handling the tasks I need from it, like printing and scanninig over a network. Who would be better at that than a company like Canon?
Introducing the Canon MP530. The worlds first office printer that won’t work in an office.
My AE didn’t even see this printer. I contacted Canon about it when I realized they seem to not gotten word that printers sold these days have network capabilities. When contacted, they told me they don’t test their equipment with 3rd party devices. I guess they rely on product testing to come from their customers? Man, that printer sucked more than the HP! The color cartridges were tiny and required you to jump through hoops of fire to install them. And then Brother. Behold! The Brother MFC-845CW. A wireless printer that connects to my AE with a wereless G connection, or ethernet, or usb, or clotheshanger.
Features: It has a 5ghz cordless phone built-in. It is a fax machine. It allows you to scan over a wireless network to any computer connected. It’s software works. The color cartridges are at the very front for easy loading. It has an answering machine. The scanning WORKS wirelessly. It’s smaller than the HP and the Canon. I ordered it off amazon for a $50 discount and have been thouroughly happy. Even scanned in about 300 photos this weekend. Even with Vuescan, I could only get about 5 scans in before I had to restart my G5. Oh, and you don’t have to be using a program on your mac to get scans – they simply go to a file in a folder you designate.
I feel better now. I’ve been suffering thanks to HP for years. No more.
All that’s left is a trip to the woods with the old HP, some gangsta rap, and a baseball bat.
In all seriousness, the Brother printer I have right now is the best.

I ended up getting a second extreme and running it via ethernet to the G5. Voila, I now have n wireless speed on a g5.
The express runs via ethernet out of the main extreme,so I have two networks now. One is 5ghz n, and the other is g.
Everybody’s happy!

and if you’re incorporated, you also get a 3% manufacturers discount on everything at the end of the year. I’m not sure of the details, but an accountant would know.
