If you mean the apple business plan discount, i think it just works buying from this number. If you mean the ca sales tax exemption, you have to work in california, be incorporated (or LLC), and plan to use the equipment primarily in California.

I think you might be right. I tried setting up a VNC and while I can get it to work inside my LAN, connecting through the internet with SSH is so far impossible. All our routers are configured, all the ports are open, and I can even connect via terminal/ssh, however when Chicken of the VNC tries to connect, I time out or get some weird “Bind: The address is already in use” terminal message.

Probably my last option is to get one of those ichat plugins that allow the screen to output via ichat video instead of the camera. At least I can backseat drive that way while she uses the mouse.

Sorry it took so long to respond – you’re right. I thought for sure I was getting N speeds, but that was only when I was restarting the Express.

I guess I either get another extreme or live with G.

Anybody seen if it’s universal binary? IE, can I install a software only version on my g5?

I’d rather wait until October to get a new mac pro to run this stuff. Odds are there will be a new MacPro hardware release between now and then that is a little more optimized to run with Leopard.

Steve, I ended up remapping the zoom out/in to just regular old plus/minus, and I also remapped clear in/out to y & r (no option click) – between that and shift-z I usually can handle the zooming thing.

You know, it’s always a good thing (in my opine) to point out little things like these. It’s the only way they get attention to at least have an option for customization included in future versions of FCP. The squeaky wheel gets the oil, so they say.

All of this pales in comparison to the number of wasted hours I spent in life undoing avid edits because I was in the wrong mode (trim/effects/segment). I love my FCP.
