I’m not wrong for asking when at least beta drivers will be out. I’d like to at least be able to listen to audio w/ Leopard. The aja boards are dark on this topic and initially everybody (including you guys) thought AJA’s drivers would have been out almost immediately.

And Bob, if I had a dollar for every time I was asked to put my pants back on….I wouldn’t need to ask for drivers!

I have it on a second drive but without AJA drivers it’s not working right and I’m nervous about messing up files/projects/etc.

Not complaining, I’d rather have my AJA drivers work right than barely work.

  • Hey guys,

Just an addendum, but can’t you lose one of the DVD drive bays in the Mac Pro and put a 5th hard drive in it’s place to run your OS? Then, you stripe the 4 other drives at RAID 0, leaving you with a pretty substantial RAID with nearly HD data rates? The drives also can be swapped out fairly easily from my understanding.

I’ve had an external RAID for about 3 years and it is LOUD and starting to die (making noises). I’m considering the internal RAID option myself to save space, wiring, and time.

I work in Uncompressed SD and DVCProHD so I don’t have as much need for anything faster than that….

You could even put those new Hitachi 1TB drives in, leaving you with 5 TB’s of space, 4 TB of which would be RAID 0. That sounds pretty awesome to me….

    Am I nutso?

I knew virtually nothing about fcp or macs – but spending $1200 a day in avid was motivation enough to figure it out.

I used the DR group in Hollywood to configure my RAID, purchased a loaded mac with cheaper ram installed from a 3rd party dealer, and installed the Kona 2, e-sata, breakout box, and digibeta deck on my own.

It was a great experience for me. I can’t wait to do it again with a Mac Pro and a new second system.

    1 day to leopard….

Forgive any redundancy, but this is what I check when I have this problem.

Make sure you have all tracks set to 4 channel dual mono in your sequence audio settings. (cmd-0).

Make sure you have each tracks output assigned to the correct track you want to lay back to
(option-click to the left of each track name on the sequence and select ‘audio outputs’ to assign them).

That’s all I gots. Good luck!

Yeah! None of that flutey/violiney Return of the King crap.

Although…I wouldn’t mind fading away to the Star Trek II credits music (the James Horner stuff)- back before they got this idea to use heavy “evening news” sounding brass in Next Generation. Actually, now that I think about it, Next Generation’s theme came from Star Trek 5, right? Or was it Star Trek the motion picture? Next Generation’s theme music came from somewhere, and it was crap.

I don’t consider “Enterprise’s” theme music to be an actual Star Trek score. I’m pretty sure that was just a Toni Braxton b-side track they licensed for about $20. Please don’t play that during my field of daisies death scene.

God. I used to be cool.

October 12, 2007 at 10:42 pm in reply to: Leap to Leopard? What happened last time?

I just got a really cheap 1TB firewire drive to copy all media and files over to and am using the upcoming leopard launch as a way to ‘clean house’ so to speak.

First, I’m going to install it on my wife’s macbook. Routine upgrade, not a fresh install. It’s the ‘experimental’ computer.

Then I’m going to play with it. I’m going to find out how it will improve my life. I’m going to say “thank god, they did do more than just ‘stacks’ and ‘time machine’ and tiny little maintinance thingees. I’m going to listen to my bluetooth stereo headphones that have been collecting dust for six months. I’m going to be so pleased by how useful updated mail is. I’m gonna notice how much faster everything runs. I”m also going to call my friends on ichat and do that Star Wars hologram thingee. I will then install it on my mother and sister’s computers.

Then I”m gonna sit on it a week and wait for the deluge of posts from people with major problems and the responses about how nobody is having any problems.

Oh, and then, hopefully they’ll upgrade iPhone software to 2.0 – including things like MMS, Push email, bluetooth stereo, and ichat. Then I will buy an iphone.

Then I will walk into a field of daisies and lay down for an eternal rest, because everything in my life will be complete.
