I moved all the CS3 apps into a folder and surprise, they work, but every time I open them I have to ‘repair’ the fact that I moved them. I’m ain’t gonna touch the CS4 apps.

Have you tried freezing the drive? Believe it or not, sometimes that works. Saved a drive for me last month, actually. I made sure to seal it in plastic before I froze it though. Be sure you have a spare drive to copy everything to as soon as you plug it back in because at best it’s a temporary fix.

Find yourself a college and get into a broadcast/communications/media program – doesn’t need to be anything spectacular – most any college will do. At your age nobody is going to hire you do do anything more than schlep tapes or be a runner, so you might as well be getting an education and chasing sorority skirts (which is an education in and of itself!). College isn’t required for this industry, but it gives you access to more expensive equipment to train on. Plus, people you meet there may later be clients.
Now that we have a better understanding of your age and situation, I think these other guys will agree with me. There are alot of broke, unexperienced & uneducated 20 year olds in LA that are desperate for any work they can get. You can get broadcast experience anywhere there’s a radio station, cable company, or some other small media outlet. I started in radio 12 years ago in backwoods Georgia and attended a tiny college there – none of which hurts me. Actually, our best network client this year came from a college friend who is a VP there.
You’re really 10 to 15 years from being experienced enough to cut a show, so you might as well spend that time wisely.

I’d hand it over as well. It’s not worth pissing them off and losing a client that’s giving you so much repeat business. If it really is an inconvenience to you, maybe you can bill a few hundred bucks for your time preparing the materials. Who knows what they’re going to use it for? Who cares? With so much repeat business you’re doing something right. Trust in that and be prepared for the next project.

Well that’s some good news at least. It’s very telling that they don’t do anything that results in lower taxes or fees, isn’t it?
I’m still astounded you can’t edit from home in burbank. With all the layoffs and foreclosures going on it’s really asinine to cripple your citizens even further.

Do keep in mind that there’s a strong chance that the current line of mac pros are likely going to be upgraded in January. If you decide to go the mac pro route, it might be smart to wait if you can.

Yeah, you can’t fight nepotism. Don’t worry though, when the entire project is delivered ‘mtv style’ and mixed with a track from the kid’s best friend’s ska band, then delivered with inverted field issues at offline quality, they’ll probably be calling you.
I really really hate MTV style. It’s neither music television or style. Discuss.
