  • Looks like a combination of effects. Some of the ones you might want to start with are CC Kaleida, Mirror, CC RepeTile and Polar Coordinates

My mistake, I thought it needed to be grouped with the text and would be moving completely in sync with the text. You can take the red rectangle out of the precomp and put it in your master comp. Make another duplicate of the white screen layer and place it above the rectangle, and use this as your matte(you may want to turn it off until after you finish setting up the red rectangle move). Create your position keyframes for the rectangle to slide in and land in position, then parent it to the controller null. Set the track matte for the layer, and you should be good to go.

Thank you Walter for the explanation. I read the help 3 times and could not work that out.

Yes, this would be easier in Particular, but the person in the other thread doesn’t have that, so I was working with what was available.

What’s happening is with relative random chosen, playground is picking a random frame to start the animation. That’s why some are popping on. I tried playing using relative and an expression on the time offset to pick the first frame of the animation. When I do that, it picks the first frame and the flowers grow, but for some reason, hardly any visible particles seem to be generated…I’m not sure if I”m doing something wrong, or it’s a bug in the particle playground.

For instance I’m looking at my info panel and it says there are 1034 particles, I count 34 on screen. At this point, I’m at a bit of loss on how to proceed.

I suppose you could set it up with the offset, let it for as long as need be, and then precomp the entire thing and time remap it to get it work correctly.

Here’s the expression I put on the time offset.

I’m going to repost asking about the time offset.

This would be easier to do in a true 3D program, but there is a method for faking it.

CC sphere doesn’t create a real sphere, just a projection of one. Create a null, enable 3D, place it approximately in the center of the sphere, make it the parent of the objects you want to rotate around the sphere and then link it to CC Sphere rotation, but they will never truly rotate around the sphere and the illusion will fall apart quickly. So to fake it, you split the child layers so that when they are to go behind the sphere, those layers are moved below the sphere in the layer hierarchy.

Here’s a quick and dirty example project: 7875_sphere.aep.zip

Probably take a lot of work to make it look as good as the promo, but it might be doable.

You don’t need to move the screen into the precomp, you just need it above the precomp to act as a mask. So duplicate your entire shape layer, name it “Screen matte”, and move it above “Red Square and Text”. Delete everything but the “Screen 2″(I think). Now set your “Red Square and Text” track matte(turned off in your picture, press “F4” to toggle to “Track Matte” modes)to alpha matte. Now you should be able to move, zoom into your text.

You need to precomp your text and red image. Then duplicate the white rounded rectangle(screen) and move it over your text layer/square precomp. Change your text layer precomp track matte to alpha matte. Then link the precomp to your controller null. Click the continuous rasterize button(little sunburst) so that when you scale your precomp, the layers will maintain full vector qualities.

Do you mean the light sweep, get’s a sharp edge? If that’s the case, just make your masking layer bigger.

You will need to save it back to CS6, otherwise I can’t look at it. But try changing the “Time Offset Type” in the Layer Map to “Relative” or “Relative Random”. I think when it’s on absolute it grabs the first frame of the precomp.

I made a simple animation of your flower in my precomp and with relative random have all my flowers at different scales and rotations.

    Here’s my revised comp: 7871_particleplaygroundrevisedfolder.zip

BTW, you’re really making me think, I haven’t used playground in 6 or 7 years, since I switched to Particular or Form. Kind of fun playing with it again.
