Sorry, when I was following the conversation, I didn’t know if you needed to recreate that specific element or just adjust a pre-rendered portion of that layer.

Create a line of “000000”, You can add to the length later. Add a ‘offset’ text animator and set the offset to 1. Now to that animator add “wiggly selector” and set the Min amount to 0. If you scrub through the timeline you will see you have random binary numbers.

Create circle mask on your text layer. Under text “Path options” choose “Mask 1”, Reverse Path On, and Force Alignment On

Now make sure to click “Text”, and then from the animate pulldown add position animator and add a wiggly selector to it. Adjust your position to taste and then just change the wiggles/second to 0.

Lastly, just add a bunch more “0” to your text until you get what you want.

That would be the basics. Check my sample project.

I’m still a little confused. Did you buy the template? If so, why do you need to remake the numbers going around in a circle? Just want to be clear on exactly what you are trying to achieve.

    Thanks

I think the closest you can do this is by making a new library with you Creative Cow account and putting the asset into that library. You would have to download it, then upload it to the library. Then you would be able to access it from the libraries tab in AE.

Are you saying you already bought the template and the binary number circles(1 and 0’s) is a prerendered video and you need something different? If it’s prerendered, just find that layer in the composition and turn it off, then insert what you want there instead.

Or do you need help in creating this new layer?

Most likely your preferences were corrupted and need to be rebuilt.

  • I don’t have a 26 hour clip to play with so I can’t experiment, but I would try bringing it into Encoder or some other program and then render out individual sections into something more manageable, like 13 two hour clips

If you want to do it fast, edit all the clips you want in one sequence, then precomp it. Now in your final comp press “Cntl + Alt + T” to time remap the sequence. Move the last keyframe to about halfway through your sequence. Now add a Time>Posterize Time effect and play around with the frame rate, Between 3 and 6 should work.

The time remap, just speeds it up enough so that you will skip more frames—it’s not really necessary.

  • I’m 95% positive that was possible and 5% thinking I’m suffering from Mandela effect. But if you look at my example, it is right there and the help page used to have a link that went to transparency…so I think that is how it used to be.

  • I feel like something musts have changed in the AE releases, because I could do this before by using a material override, but now in every render engine it’s greyed out. At Adobe Help in the extruding text and shape layers, the link for “Additional material options(reflection, index of refraction and transparency) has been disabled.
