Being that you are sending to an HD monitor, you should be working in a 720×480 comp with 1.21 rectangle pixels. When you render your animation the DVD software should recognize the wide screen format and burn you a dvd that will be read correctly by the DVD player.

As far as it being sent to a 720 monitor, if you are burning a DVD and not a blu-ray, it doesn’t really matter, it will be upscaled by the monitor.

I find the AE MPEG-2 DVD preset works very well. If you are using encore you should be able to drop that into a timeline, set your end action and be good to go.

I once had to do not one, but multiple projects with animated “written” text that was to appear as it was written on a blackboard. My solution was to animate each letter of the alphabet and the numbers 0-9. Once that was finished I just dragged an dropped them into my final composition, one letter or number at a time.

Was pretty time-consuming, but faster than if I had attempted animating each repeated letter. So that’s one route you could try.

If you want to use a preset, you could use the “Raining characters In” text preset and just delete the opacity and position animators.

Or add an animator to your text and animate the “offset” property.

Make your solids gigantic is one solution. That when when you move the camera, you won’t expose the sides of the solid.

You can make rooms, just takes a little time. Create 2 solids, rotate one 90 degrees and move it to the edge of the other solid. Using the other views “top” “side” is very helpful in doing this.

Just to add for the future on a PC, go to your start menu > accesories > system tools. You will find character map there. You can look up all the characters for any font you have installed.

Open up the masks and lock the ones you want to hide. Then under Layer > Masks, the bottom option is to “Hide Locked Masks”
